Re: Official Trump Presidency Thread, Part 3

There will be investigations (plural) going on for several years related to 2016, as well as things that followed.
Yes, what is being investigated is massively complex. The money trails are threaded through hundreds of shell accounts scattered across the globe. And yes, there is also the point applying of "getting it right".

However, I'm of the belief that DJT has had indictments against him, sitting sealed, since 2017. That there has been more than enough there to justify impeachment and removal from office for a while now.

A truly full report won't be released this year. I doubt even next year or the year after that. There is going to be a lot of distance, and detachment, needed to grasp the full scope.
But we'll see enough on Trump and others, that will demand impeachment proceedings and the implications that come with those (as if those weren't bad enough) should be clear(er).

I'll try to dig up the info after I post this, but there is another item that is a big tell for me as to the timing here.

Re: Official Trump Presidency Thread, Part 3

This question might have been asked here already, but if an impeachment centers around the election itself - which has never happened - wouldn't it take Pence out as well if it succeeded? If the election was shown to be tainted, I can't imagine he just steps in as president. If Trump went down that way, his running mate couldn't be allowed to benefit, could he?

Manafort picked Pence. Pence was head of the transition team.

The people that know how dirty Trump is, also know how compromised Pence is.

I'd like to say that Pence will never be President. If he somehow is, it will be very short lived. Important point to remember is whoever is president, you can't pardon co-conspirators.

What seems key to me is that Trump is not allowed to pick his Gerald Ford.

Re: Official Trump Presidency Thread, Part 3

...shifting away from the crossover of the wacky conspiracy thread and back to the Trump administration itself...

https://www.latimes.com/politics/la-...230-story.html

In August 2017, shortly after John F. Kelly became White House chief of staff, he convened crucial meetings on Afghanistan at President Trump’s golf club in Bedminster, N.J.

Top officials from the Pentagon and the CIA, the director of national intelligence, diplomats and lawmakers huddled with Trump as Kelly and others urged him not to give up in Afghanistan.

“When I first took over, he was inclined to want to withdraw from Afghanistan,” Kelly recounted during an exclusive two-hour interview with the Los Angeles Times.

“He was frustrated. It was a huge decision to make ... and frankly there was no system at all for a lot of reasons — palace intrigue and the rest of it — when I got there.”

The retired four-star Marine general will leave the administration on Wednesday. First as Homeland Security chief and then in 18 months at the White House, he presided over some of the Trump administration’s most controversial immigration and security policies.

In the phone interview Friday, Kelly defended his rocky tenure, arguing that it is best measured by what the president did not do when Kelly was at his side....
So after a year+ of lying in support and defense of Trump he now is coming clean on what the truth has been. He expected us to believe him then, and now wants us to believe him now.

He wants us to imagine all sorts of things that Trump might've done but didn't and he's taking credit. Which is not surprising... it is cut from the same cloth as Trump's "Make America Great Again" rorschach test. And he makes it sound like all of those things that Trump wanted to do but was convinced not to were "bad" things.

One of Trump's campaign promises were to withdraw troops from the world stage. He ran on that, people voted for him (in part) for him to do that. Kelly joined the administration knowing that... and when an opportunity arose, he advocated his own position, not one that Trump had been articulating.

Did Kelly write that anonymous op-ed piece in the NYT?

The rest of the article goes on and no where in it does Kelly express any regrets for any of his words and actions as CoS.

I suspect that Trump will be changing his 2020 campaign slogan to, "Never Apologize".

Something's upset the Toddler-in-Chief this morning.
Wonder if it's Mueller's 17 "angry Democrats".

.. The experts at Border Patrol prefer a Wall that is see through (thereby making it possible to see what is happening on both sides). Makes sense to me!
Maybe it's already there and you just can't see it!

I never thought Donald Trump would be giving the nation free lessons on morality.

It’s interesting that Trump and I are doing the exact same things today (mindlessly scrolling on our phones because we have no work to do today).

And steel slats are old technology on par with the wheel?

Didn't you know? First the caveman invented the wheel and then immediately, they created steel slats walls to prevent Neanderthals from stealing their wheel. Then came dinosaur-riding Jesus (whose last name was Trump, but the mainstream media won't tell you that #FakeNews) to save all these caveman from the hostile Neanderthals. It's all in the bible. The bible that Franklin Graham, the Falwells and Liberty University use.

Re: Official Trump Presidency Thread, Part 3

I mean he has nothing else to do but spout nonsense right?

In one of his most recent arguments for a southern border wall, President Trump on Sunday falsely claimed that the Washington home of former president Barack Obama and Michelle Obama is surrounded by a 10-foot wall.

Trump’s tweet comes in the midst of a partial government shutdown, which was spurred Dec. 22 by Trump’s demand for $5 billion in funding for a U.S.-Mexico border wall. He alleged that the “wall” around the Obamas' mansion was necessary for the former first couple’s “safety and security,” adding that the United States needs a “slightly larger version!”

Trump’s assertion came as a surprise to two of the Obamas' neighbors Monday, who told The Washington Post that there is no such wall. The 8,200-square-foot structure, despite several security features, is completely visible from the street.

A neighbor, a longtime resident of the area who spoke on the condition of anonymity to preserve their privacy, said Trump “has a very active imagination.”

“There’s a fence that goes along the front of the house, but it’s the same as the other neighbors have,” the neighbor said. “It’s tastefully done.”
