Time and place says otherwise. If she's tried for his murder on January 31st, 1995 and he's found alive or lived and then is instead murdered in July of 2004, that's a different crime. Ever notice how much emphasis is put on "where were you on the night of...?" Double jeopardy doesn't give you a pass for future crimes.

But pardons do ... I still would like to see a legal challenge to pardons of unnamed theoretical crimes that may or may not have happened.

I was under the assumption that a person could only be pardoned for crimes where a guilty verdict was rendered, save the Nixon shitshow.
Re: The Official Trump Presidency Thread, Part 3
That’s my question. Let’s say Trump pardons himself for these theoretical crimes. Most of which we can assume would be financial in nature - fraud, embezzlement, etc. Now let’s say in 6 months that DNA evidence comes back positive for the Trump rape case. Does that blanket pardon cover a sexual assault charge too? I can’t imagine how someone can be pardoned for EVERY crime they may or may not have ever committed.

I hope we weren't being too hard on you. Although I do think some people might have mistaken this for the 2020 Erection thread.
And Merry Christmas!!🎄

It’s funny that the Republicans will back Trump on every piece of shit conspiracy theory or democracy destroying ploy but they finally choose to go against him over $1400 to benefit American citizens.
I guess the well-being of Americans is the line that Republicans finally choose not to cross...

I mean it would be a movie about a man who thinks he has done great, but the Clarence comes around and shows him that the world (inclusing his own deplorables) would be in a much better place if he hadn't existed.

He's having a real meltdown this morning.
Starting to sink in how much shit is gonna come down on him once he's out of office - not to mention, he won't have the bully pulpit of being president that he has now, and media will ignore him far more.

Plus Glenn Kirschner(remember him, former Federal Prosecutor ) is getting together with other people to write 50 letters to each state's AG asking that they file charges against Trump,Pence and Kushner for the deaths and lies about the current Covid19 Pandemic.

I miss stingermck's daily postings of Trump's Twatter spewage under the official presidential seal. Since I don't go to Twatter, I'm not up on the latest treasonous fucknuttery he has been tapping out.

I thought that the president is immune from prosecution for things done in his official capacity in the pursuit of public policy. Otherwise, the president would never be able to do something forceful, or do something that might possibly go wrong, or do something that later is unpopular.

It might be considered under dereliction of duty.
This is after he leaves office.

It would be difficult to argue that robbing banks is done in his official capacity in the pursuit of public policy.

But robbing taxpayers is OK.
Re: The Official Trump Presidency Thread, Part 3
I have a feeling that some of these pardon's(since some have already mentioned it in the past that they might get pardoned) will be the main downfall of Donald Trump.

Ok, now he's signed the covid relief package, having accomplished absolutely nothing with his temper tantrum.
