I’ll be curious how long George HW Bush lives without Barbara. Longtime couples seem to go in quick proximity to each other fairly often. I think after 70+ years of living with someone it would be hard to go on living without them.

He's no spring chicken
but Nancy Reagan lived 12 years after Ronald died so it's possible he makes it to triple digits

Despite the fact that I didn't vote for her husband and thought her son a giant asshole, I respected Mrs. Bush. She struck me as a woman who didn't take any guff from the media, and was a welcome relief from Nancy Reagan.

When you have been married for over 70 years, I can't imagine he'll last long without her.

It really seemed like she was the family's rock. I hope HW Bush lives a long time, but I'm sure it's going to be tough without Barbara. RIP. She carried herself with class.

I honestly can't wrap my head around why people need to come in a death thread with their negative comments, it is like you have a need to announce to the world how shitty you are. Can't at least wait a week or even a day. I hope the people that loved her at least can find some peace for awhile before the internet acts like the internet.

My Grandmother survived a year in a hospital at age 85 for among other things a broken hip. Doctors told my Mom she'd probably never leave the hospital. My Grandfather was in a care home with alzheimers during this time. My Grandmother finally got out of the hospital and lived on her own and somewhat thrived for over 2 years before my Grandfather finally succumbed to his illness. She visited him all the time. 3 weeks later my Grandmother was dead. There's some real science behind something like this happening but I don't know what that science is. I believe the same thing happened to Debbie Reynolds when Carrie Fisher died.

I wouldn't call her a bad person, but she did say some things from time to time that were very cold and out of touch with reality.
"What I'm hearing, which is sort of scary, is they all want to stay in Texas. Everyone is so overwhelmed by the hospitality. And so many of the people in the arena here, you know, were underprivileged anyway, so this is working very well for them."
On her decision not to watch much TV during the run-up to the Iraq war being led by her son, George W. Bush: "But why should we hear about body bags, and deaths, and how many, what day it's going to happen, and how many this and what do you suppose? Or, I mean, it's, it's not relevant. So why should I waste my beautiful mind on something like that? And watch him suffer."
