Facebook to Inform Users If They Liked a Russian Propaganda Account

If the mods want to fold this into another thread, feel free, but I think it's important on its own.

The social network is creating a database that will let users see which Kremlin-linked Facebook or Instagram pages they may have liked or followed.
Facebook will tell its users whether they interacted with Russian propaganda on its platform, it announced Wednesday morning.

The social network plans to introduce a database that will inform users which Facebook pages from the Kremlin-connected Internet Research Agency they may have liked or followed between January 2015 and August 2017. The database will also include Instagram accounts created by the group.

"It is important that people understand how foreign actors tried to sow division and mistrust using Facebook before and after the 2016 U.S. election," the company said in a blog post.

Facebook previously disclosed that the Internet Research Agency had created 80,000 posts on 120 pages over more than two years that were intended to influence the U.S. presidential election. All told, the posts could have reached as many as 126 million people, though not all of those users will have liked or followed the pages.

Earlier this month, Facebook testified in front of Congress about Kremlin-linked activity on its platform. The moves should signal to lawmakers that they are taking the issue seriously.

CEO Mark Zuckerberg told investors on Nov. 1 that curbing abuse on the platform "is more important than maximizing our profits."

The new portal will be released by the end of the year.
This is good, but not good enough, in my opinion. Not only should they show each user which Russian propaganda accounts/posts they liked or followed, but they should also show users which accounts/posts they ever saw, regardless of if they clicked on them or not. For example, if someone you know liked it, then sometimes that would show up on your screen. People should be fully aware of exactly how many of these posts they saw, and which ones, even if their gut reaction was, "Well, this is bullshit."

POTUS supporters won't care at all. They'll still think it was the truth, whether from the Russians or not. Plus all the polls say they like Putin now.
