Martin Shkreli found guilty of securities fraud

Karma's a bitch, Shkreli baby!

https://www.cnbc.com/2017/08/04/phar...raud-case.html

He can get up to 20 years in prison.

Edit: Since it was pointed out that I may not have provided sufficient commentary, I will add that it is sickening that hiking up the price on life saving drugs is totally legal, and this piece of shit is going to jail for defrauding investors. Profit>people.

He is such a douche. I hope they give him the full 20 in Rikers with the general population. His corpse would be a sex-toy within a half hour.

"Supercilious weasel" is epitomized by this rat-faced psychopath. Enjoy the bloody anal-widening courtesy of the big sausage on your cellmate.

There's far less rape in prison than you would like Norm.

I think that depends on the prison, and these assholes go to daycare.

Plus he'll be in a white collar country club prison, not some maximum security hellhole.

I would actually like there to be no rape in prison, Josh. This slimeball just makes me particularly livid. If he gets 20 years, sans rape, I'll be happy.

Yeah, a friend who went to prison said there was no rape, just "all the sex you would never want."

The transcript for the jury selection on the Shkreli trial proves karma is indeed a bitch: https://harpers.org/archive/2017/09/public-enemy/

These are my favorites:

the court: Well, Im going to excuse you. Juror Number 144, tell us what you have heard.

juror no. 144: I heard through the news of how the defendant changed the price of a pill by up-selling it. I heard he bought an album from the Wu-Tang Clan for a million dollars.

the court: The question is, have you heard anything that would affect your ability to decide this case with an open mind. Can you do that?

juror no. 144: I dont think I can because he kind of looks like a dick.

juror no. 59: Your Honor, totally he is guilty and in no way can I let him slide out of anything because

the court: Okay. Is that your attitude toward anyone charged with a crime who has not been proven guilty?

juror no. 59: Its my attitude toward his entire demeanor, what he has done to people.

the court: All right. We are going to excuse you, sir.

juror no. 59: And he disrespected the Wu-Tang Clan.

When I first read that article yesterday, I was sure it was political parody, not a real transcript. I still think we're going to find out we got punked and the whole thing was written by Jon Stewart!

He has been sentenced:

'Pharma bro' Martin Shkreli sentenced to 7 years in prison — says 'This is my fault'
https://www.cnbc.com/2018/03/09/phar...in-prison.html

Most importantly - Shkreli already has been ordered to forfeit almost $7.4 million, and give up his ownership of a one-of-a-kind Wu-Tang Clan album because of his crimes.

He was doing some interview, and he said that either way, the insurance pays for the medication. He then said, that if someone DIDN'T have insurance, that they could contact him and HE would pay for the medication.

He should have gotten the max which in this case is 15 years. We really need to make the penalties for White Collar crime hurt so it is a deterrent.

Re: Martin Shkreli found guilty of securities fraud

Thanks for the video dex14.
One part that I fast-fowarded to was where he said something about drug companies raise the price of drugs all the time. So I'm curious to know the differences in this situations and others.

But at the same time too, he sounds like a bullshitter.
He said that for the small group of people who DON'T have insurance and need the drug, he said that they can contact him and he'll pay for it.
This doesn't even make any sense.
Up until that point, how would they know they could even do that?
He's going to take calls directly from people claiming they need the drug?
Then he's going to cut them a check just like that?
I'd assume he'd have to meet with them to at least check out that they really need the drug, that they don't have insurance, etc. That's considerable amount of time out of someone's life to verify all that.
And is it going to be a one time thing? I assume they need this drug for life.
So is he going to set up for a monthly payment for the rest of their lives?
For all those different people?

If he thinks people are stupid enough to believe that, I think listening to him about anything else would be a waste of time.
