And we're off. Trump signs an executive order to start unwinding Obamacare

The Offical Trump Presidency Thread: America First, So much Winning

As we discussed, we were going to start a new thread once the inauguration was over.

Best of luck to The Don. Republicans are in their fantasy position. We'll see how it goes...

The problem with being president is that all the easy decisions were made lower down, and the only decisions left are the difficult, important ones which don't have a good answer. I don't think Trump will enjoy it.

Meanwhile, China is being cautious. It ordered all media to use only official news releases, and forbade social media, chats, and blogs from independently reporting on or discussing negative opinions about the inauguration.

Honestly I don't see how this ends well for the Republicans in the long run. Unfortunately the real losers in all of this are us, the "common people". We'll keep swinging back and forth between the extremes of the two parties as each sides tries to get their agenda through to counter the "damage" the other side did when they were in power

Agreed... I think he's quickly going to find running the country is not like running a company. He doesn't have the absolute final says on what happens. There's a process that needs to be worked through. Unfortunately given his predecessors and each pushing the limits of the power of the office (thinking mainly executive orders) he's not as constrained as I believe the office was originally meant to be.

re: The Offical Trump Presidency Thread: Don Jr & Russians

I'm trying to gauge how much "outrage" I should express during Trump's reign at all his inevitable fuck ups. I honestly doubt I will "suffer" much, personally, but I actually care about people who aren't me, who are going to go through some tough shit because Trump is going to use the presidency as a money making venture for himself and his colleagues.

Obviously I want him and America to succeed, but I seriously doubt that he will. If we're all better off in 4 years compared to today, you can quote this post and I'll eat some crow. But nothing he's said or done makes me think that will be the case. So, basically, when he does fail, I want two things; for the people that elected him to realize that we do need someone appropriate and capable for the position of President, and that Trump's fuck ups won't bring down our country like they bring down his administration.

What a difference a day makes.

parking full (10am) - Wiehle, Ft Totten, Rockville, Rhode Island, EFC, Greenbelt, Glenmont, Forest Glen
Pretty much the exact same conditions as yesterday -- same weather, same crappy Metro system, Federal government's still closed -- but clearly the Women's March is drawing more people than the Inauguration.

Well, at least Donnie finally has a crowd he can boast about.

Does anyone know what the bill he signed actually does? I couldn't find any details.

Not sure what brought this to mind, but this song (nsfw) came to mind last night. It's a shame that McGruder isn't doing the Boondocks any more. Would enjoy seeing Huey & Riley work through this one.

It's not a bill. It's an order to executive agencies to not enforce ACA requirements whenever they can without violating the law.

That appears to the primary difference. Despite all the "elitist' name calling, it's those that opposed Trump that actually care about others. Genuine concern about what they will happen other if Trump carries through with his, and his supporters, agenda.

As I white, healthy, self supporting, heterosexual male I don't appear to be in the cross hairs unless they go further than targeting Muslims with their Christian Evangelical biased agenda.

Love seeing all of the attendees of the various Women's Marches protest the President around the world. Gives me hope that people will be willing to do what they can to fight him every step of the way, especially those he treats with such disrespect.

I won't be idle if there is Federal persecution of Muslims, and not many will. That will truly be Un-American and illegal. Expect pressure from all when they start showing videos of federal agents rounding up people for their religious beliefs here in the US. I for one will not sit idle and allow it.

There is a YUGE one planned around here today. Know lots of women that are going to be part of the masses.

Wonder if there will be more in the DC mall area today than there was yesterday.

Big one going on here too - supposed to be over 20,000 attendees. Lots of hope out there! Thrilled that people are showing Trump that his treatment of women is unacceptable.

Trump either has to change his ways and how he approaches and treats ALL people in the United States, and not just his "fans", or he will continually face opposition and deservedly so. Now, the odds of a 70 year old man changing his ways are slim to none. So, we know what the likely outcome is.

Yeah, he'll get respect when he learns how to show respect, and while he's shown hints of it in small doses, he has a long way to go.

Obviously, you people weren't listening to his inauguration speech.

You made a request in one sentence...then answered yourself in the other.

You sure weren't beating your drums about how Obama was treating ALL PEOPLE in the US over the last 8 years.

Amazing how loving and compassionate one is when they're opponent is in office.

I think all of us have said things we regret at some point in our lives. And when it comes to talking in private with friends...I'm sure those things said, we would not want those things said to define us as human beings.

Trump has said enough horrible things about women in PUBLIC that it is safe to say that he does not treat women with respect.
