There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.

It was. In TRís time white Europeans faced discrimination. When this discrimination died down, nobody got upset over hyphenated Americans.

Then ďAfrican-AmericanĒ became a thing...

It seems like hyphenating was a way for people to keep awareness or pride of their cultural background. At least I'm assuming that, since white "native" born Americans apparently had a problem with it, as it was used as a pejorative since 1890.
So, are you saying that later, when "African-American" became a thing, "hyphenated Americans" became an issue again?
Because that doesn't seem to support the meme.

Separation of church and state!

When I hear those hypocrites on the air
But every Sunday gives me hope
When pastor, deacon, priest, and pope

Are all singing out their praises to

FDR would know. He locked up all the Japanese-Americans.

I kid. I kid. I actually agree with his statement. And Toni Morrison; which one of Tony Toni Tone was she?
