One thing I’ve noticed with Brandoners/Trumpers is that they don’t know what to disapprove of until Trump or Foxnews tells them. It’ll literally be silence about a topic and then Trump will release an unsolicited statement or Fox News will air an opinion piece and the very next day Brandoners will be up in arms over it.

Funny how that works. But of course Democrats are the sheep….

And that's exactly what PerryD and the conservatives miss the point on. The next line of that headline Perry posted is this

No apology, no vowing to not saying things like that again. It's the whole "freedom of speech" mentality that they need to double down on racist things. If Rogan had come out and said, "yeah, I fucked up. Not doing this again or giving conspiracy theorists and pseudo scientists a platform again", people would have accepted that and everyone moved on. But in the conservative world mentality, accepting an error is a sign of weakness. That's why they love Donald Trump, because dear leader never apologizes, no matter how wrong on everything he is. And that's why Perry focuses and dismisses any point I make here and goes "well, you called black republicans Uncle Tom" without taking into consideration that I apologize for it. And of course, Perry won't answer to Bando's or my post because everything he does here is troll and hit and run.

Rogan apologized immediately after saying it, then when the N-word smear video came out, he apologized again and said he hasn't used the word in years, that it was unacceptable and would never use it again, etc. No one doubled down. We just see it as a dangerous path that people are getting cancelled for bad jokes or bad tweets made 10 years earlier, or out of context clips, etc. I'm seeing many Rogan attackers getting counter-cancelled, and I suppose I'm supposed to be happy about it, but I'm not really, but it's the zero tolerance zero acceptance of apologies world that the left want us to live in.

I don't think Rogan should lose his livelihood, but he doesn't seem to accept that what he did was racist, just that he shouldn't have used "that word" while being "entertaining". I agree that if someone screws up and acknowledges it, accepts responsibility, and learns from it the world should move on. I think Rogan is capable of doing exactly that. I don't know enough about him.

this sounds like a reasonable apology, I assume you've seen this?
I hate to over defend Joe Rogan, since I'm not a super fan, but I'm seeing a lot of reasonable people (many on the left and many academic) defend him, knowing that this was a smear campaign. But seeing those trying to paint him as someone on the right when he's clearly very left, then you know that people are trying to politicize the situation
