The news article says the school board voted to ban it from their curriculum, that's all I know. Why in the name of fuck are you asking me a bunch of asinine questions that don't have anything to do with the news story that I responded to, and "ban" was the word they used.

Thatís what you get for trusting the mainstream media!!!!!!!!11

Several conservatives pointed out that the vote was about removing the book from the curriculum, not an outright ban.
The school board did not discuss banning the book from school premises, discouraging students from reading it, or even removing it from school libraries.
Itís near-universally being referred to as a ban (including by TNís first Jewish representative to Congress), but I guess itís critical to argue the semantics.

I was asking in a general sense, not you specifically. Sounds like they made the decision to remove it from the curriculum. If every time a curriculum changed their required readings, and the books that were replaced were considered "banned", we could write stories all day about book bannings happening. This feels like a drummed up story to tweak people on the left.

Itís a Pulitzer Prize winning work long referenced for students of this exact age and considered an excellent way to introduce the horrors of the Holocaust, pulled from the curriculum because primetime-friendly profanity like ďdamnĒ and a tiny picture of a naked cartoon mouse is beyond the pale for 8th graders. No issue, seemingly, with 9th graders, judging by the comments in the minutes.

And then you have one of the board members saying:

So, my problem is, it looks like the entire curriculum is developed to normalize sexuality, normalize nudity and normalize vulgar language. If I was trying to indoctrinate somebodyís kids, this is how I would do it.
Wackadoo.

I know pointing out that Meghan McCain is an awful human being is like pointing out that water is wet, but here you go.

This really is some Footloose level horseshit, but it's east Tennessee after all.

(I'm Southern™ myself and I've spent time there.)

Have driven through many times. The I-75 is a Yahoo Avoidance Corridor for most of its length. Stray from it momentarily for gas and grub, and that's it.

I think about this when I hear parents saying that masks are destroying our children and I ask my teenagers what kids at their school think about masks and they're like "eh, it's fine.".

My favorite was the "Man on the Street" interview with a MAGA dad who was going on and on about how terrible masks are for his kid, and how miserable his kid was having to wear one. And then the dad goes "Buddy, tell them what you think about masks" and the kid says "I get to be a ninja it's so cool!"

^ I love how they blame the Democrats for creating these diversions from the real issues yet the only ones I ever see talking about this stuff is Republicans.

If they KNOW these are diversions why are they allowing themselves to be used by devoting entire segments to this stuff?

If it wasnít for Fox News, Iíd bae no idea that M&Ms changed their shoes or that Minnie Mouse now wears a pantsuit.

Love the candor that CEOs give during shareholder meetings, looking forward to possible wars with the nuclear superpowers to pump up the earnings.
