There's worse than his name, he's gay. I predict that nobody who isn't a white heterosexual male under 70 has a shot at beating Trump in 2020.

People said the same thing about Obama (race and name). I was one of those people. Happily, I was proven wrong. I played a small part in his victory by voting for him in both elections.

Pete just got into the first debate. He has a real chance.

I think Pete is my new favorite candidate. I still like Kamala though.

Buttigieg is unknown no more, I’ve started seeing him everywhere, and the Washington Post just did a profile on him.

Many Twitter users seem to think Pete has Beto beat -- at least in this one important area.

I wonder if Pete will stay in the game long enough for Trump to give him a nickname. And can Trump resist a homophobic one?

He went with “low I.Q.” for black people. He’ll figure out something similar for Pete.

The Idiot can snag some of the homophobic Jamaican vote with "Battyboy". Whatever he chooses, I'm sure it will be appalling... and then quickly forgotten.

I like this columnist's take on Sanders: Bernie Sanders update: what are his prospects?

Whereas I find it to be yet another facile and superficial example of the "Bernie Sanders can do no wrong, only be wronged" genre that was overplayed back in 2016.

I’ll put fifty dollars on “Pete Buttplug.”

Which is ironic considering there’s a video out there of Donald Trump with a giant purple buttplug...

So that's why they call him 'Grimace'. It makes sense now.

This is correc. Beto made waves for doing so well in small individual donations which is the holy grail for politicians.

And I recently donated to Beto and as noted, the site had a statement that by federal law I must enter my occupation and company. FYI I don’t work for oil and gas.

Whereas you're well-known around here as a Hillary supporter and Sanders detractor, going back four or five years. As a non-American, I have no skin in the game.
As American presidential candidates go, I like Sanders a lot, but preferred Nader's dignified stoicism and wealth of knowledge.

The opinion that Hillary did no wrong, she can do no wrong is more common than you'd think.

I think it’s more that Trump did far more wrong than Hillary, so it makes no sense that she was “punished” for it and he wasn’t.

I have nothing against Hillary (though she's too centrist for my liking) and, were I a Yank, would've voted for her 1000x before ever voting for the current office-holder.
Other than the negligible email scandal and her perceived unlikability, which I don't see, I can't understand why she was so loathed.

the idea that Hillary can do no wrong pre-dates the 2016 election.

I don't think Hillary did no wrong. I do think her shortcomings were overblown, and Bernie's downplayed significantly. The article Norm posted is the perfect example of that -- it's not that there's anything whatsoever wrong with Bernie; it's that darn media's fault for not getting him!

Beto can bring in the money!

6.1 million on day 1. It will be interesting how that “grassroots” effort he loves and does so well at plays on the National level

I predict that right around the time that Bernie Sanders locks up the Democratic nomination, if/when that happens, the media will begin hammering him on the "democratic socialist" thing, which will be shortened to "socialist," of course. In other words, the media will ignore the GOP's main line of attack during the Democratic primaries and then massively amplify that attack ("but her emails" level) ahead of the general election.

The media is lazy and easily manipulated.

That's quite a haul. I made a donation last week.

So far I've donated to Kamala (monthly), Pete (one time), and Beto (one time).
