Booker is a sitting US Senator, has spent the last 10-12 years as a fixture guest on Cable News, appeared in the first couple debates and recieved quite a bit of media attention and for one reason or another couldn't ever gain nationally or in any of the early primary states. If he was ever gonna gain traction in polls it would have happened at some point last year. And Harris was just like Beto where the media and pundintry clased hyped them up the wazoo cause they looked like "fresh faces" but once the spotlight was on them and their name ID increased their poll numbers started going backwards cause they were just in over their head.

My best guess is that Booker sees the writing on the wall and can see that Trump has a more likely than not chance of being re-elected. Since he wasn't getting a lot of traction anyway, better to get out of the race now and prepare for 2024 than get into the primaries where all the mud-slinging really starts. Kamala Harris basically had/has the same gameplan. Basically, they used this campaign to get a little more national recognition.

Funny enough, I took a Washington Post quiz about candidate stances today and I agreed with Klobuchar most and then Buttigieg, with Sanders the least and Biden and Warren in the middle of the pack for me. Not every candidate has a response for every topic, so take that for what you will.

Here's the quiz: https://www.washingtonpost.com/graph...grees-with-me/

Based on that Yang and Klobuchar are tied for most agreed; Sanders was the lowest.

I like how when I selected that student debt should be left alone, not a single candidate agreed with me.

Warren first for me, then Pete and Klobuchar. Sanders is at the bottom.

That sucks, but I don't think saying "Warren smears sanders with debunked story" is particularly accurate either. Did she know the story was debunked when the reporter asked her? "Smear" makes it sound like a purposeful thing. I think it's kind of fair for her to assume if it was reported on Politico, it was true.

Thank goodness we are less then a month away from Iowa once again slipping back into irrelevance. It is beyond absurd that millions of dollars and well over a year in time is spent on courting 2.1 million voters. A voting block that is 91% white and does not even come close to representing the ethnic makeup of the United States.

If you spent that money and time campaigning in either California, New York, Texas or several other states you would actually reach far more voters.

Re: New! Improved! The 2020 Presidential Election Thread: It's Never Over! Edition

I took the quiz. Got Mayor Pete and Andrew Yang as my top two (tied at 14 each), though the quiz didn’t include such things as “The United States ___________ sweep racial problems in policing under the rug,” or “The next President ____________ be someone who has even the tiniest bit of experience in government.” I suspect I differ from Mayor Pete and Mr. Yang on those.

There were also a lot of “should consider” questions, which — sure, why not. I’ll consider anything. I have strong doubts as to whether we could eliminate private health insurance (show me 50 votes for that in the Senate, let alone 60), but I’ll happily consider it any day of the week. Does that make me a Sanders/Warren supporter because I think it would be nice, or a Biden/Klobuchar guy because I think a public option is the most achievable goal at this point and I’d rather put my energy into that fight?

Very disappointed in Warren's statement last night. Hopefully it doesn't distract tonight from the attacks on Biden and his record that Bernie had been focusing on for the last few weeks. Looking forward to it.

Pshhhh. Next thing you'll tell me is that you see shades of grey instead of black-and-white, and that sometimes problems have multiple solutions.

Yeah, without accounting for how important each issue is to you, it just becomes checking off boxes. Great, I agree with some people on a lot of stuff that I don't consider one of the more important issues of the day.

Bloomberg 10
Biden 9
Yang 8
Klobuchar 6
Gabbard 6
Steyer 6
Buttigieg 5
Sanders 5
Warren 1 (Marijuana)

Of course, some questions had no acceptable answer for me so I had to go with the closest. And I wouldn't vote for any of them. And there is no such thing as a too big Diet Dr Pepper.
