United States-Cuba to resume diplomatic relations

Who is up for a trip to Havana in a couple of years??

http://www.nbcnewyork.com/news/natio...286106041.html
In historic news on Wednesday, the United States and Cuba are to start talks on normalizing relations between the two countries. The congressional embargo remains in place, but President Obama in a noon addressed announced major changes in travel and business policies, saying that increased commerce was good for both Americans and Cubans.

“We should not allow U.S. sanctions to add to the burden of Cuban citizens we seek to help," he said.

Sounds like Pope Francis had a hand in the negotiations as well, to some degree.

I'm shocked that Republicans aren't attacking Obama yet as a Commie. I guess it has only been a couple hours since the news broke.

The Vatican wants a piece of that Catholic action in Cuba.

Well, Marco Rubio is really pissed, but when I see "(R) Florida", I'm pretty sure I know why.

Mendendez has all those Cubans in Jersey City to keep happy, not all that different from any politician in Florida and specially south Fl.

Wait until one of them breaks the law and starts crying like a little baby when they have to serve time in a Cuban prison.

A couple of senators have spoke up. Seems like Florida politicians.

So how do I get in on the ground floor of investing over there? This is long overdue. Who wants to open an American sports bar with me?

A sports bar/spring training complex?

I'm in.

This I agree with with. Obama does something good!

Besides, it's long past time for the Corleone family to go back.

Or it could get worse than that--you might actually have to interact with real CUBANS who aren't janitors or wait staff!

(I guess they changed that a couple years ago, anyways--in theory, at least.)

Re: United States-Cuba to resume diplomatic relations

It's pretty easy to interact with "real Cubans" if you stay in Havana for example. I only go to all included resorts when I get a one week cheap deal and I just want to relax and get some beach time.

Plus, I was joking. I'm not sure hordes of Americans would be worse than resorts filled with loud-mouthed Quebecers who start drinking at 9:00 AM.
