"They abort their young children, they put their young men in jail, because they never learned how to pick cotton. They got less freedom."

Sounds like this guy has Phil Robertson & Paula Deen as his advisors.

Re: Anyone Following this Bundy Ranch situation?

I stayed away from this thread because I was positive we wouldn't have anyone here defending this guy and it'd just be a rehashing of the news stories I was already reading. I was certain, even the staunchest anti-Obamas people here would not support a guy stealing for two decades.

I could not fathom the level of cognitive dissonance needed to side with this guy, and still operate as a functioning human being. He is so clearly wrong it is stupid there is even a debate.

And then I started reading this thread...

Come on, no one said freedom fighters have to be perfect human beings. James Madison was a shoplifter and if someone really wanted to, I bet they could probably dig up some dirt on John Wilkes Booth, too.

Come you have to admit the "enemy of my enemy is my friend" drivel did add some unintentional humor.

I can't believe you people are playing the RACE card once again? Don't you know that tea partiers and by extension Republicans are sick and tired of being labeled racists?

It is hard to believe. I mean you’ve got the first sort of mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and nice-looking guy. I was wowed by Obama’s oratorical gifts and believed the country was ready to embrace a black presidential candidate, especially one such as a Obama — a ‘light-skinned’ African American with ‘no Negro dialect, unless he wanted to have one.

All the politicians that are backtracking now were stupid to comment on it to begin with, regardless of whether they were right or wrong.

Put them all together and they demonstrate that Cliven Bundy's supporters totally weren't getting in bed with a racist whackadoodle.

Re: Anyone Following this Bundy Ranch situation?

Put them all together and you find that this isn't an issue that affects just 1 party, and we happen to have a 2 party system. I wouldn't defend what the guy said, but I would argue with CRM for something to do.

I now realize that may hurt the holier-than-thou attitudes of some in here towards their party, though.

Re: Anyone Following this Bundy Ranch situation?

I guess I missed CRM's argument that there are no racists among the Democrats.

Though if I wanted to argue the point with you (I most assuredly do not), I might note that one might see a distinction between the happy-go-lucky ignorance of "Gosh, that fella sure does his race proud" and the bile of "Those negroes have abused their freedom and should have been kept in chains."

Re: Anyone Following this Bundy Ranch situation?

Would not all republicans are racists but all racists are republicans be a better argument?

Re: Anyone Following this Bundy Ranch situation?

I thought this was going to be about a bunny ranch but with a misspelling in the thread title. I am a bit disappointed.
