Dinesh D'Souza: Answering Difficult Questions

UPDATED Commentary: I consider myself a Bible-believing Christian, though I don't always like what God's Word says. By the same token, I don't agree with everything other believers say, but some make more sense than others when I watch and/or listen to them. Of these people, Dinesh D'Souza's one of my favorites. I like how he explains every one of his points in detail, and manages to have a sense of humor as well. I grew up around a lot of hellfire-preaching, pompous idiots, so I know the difference between them and honest seekers like Dinesh, Frank Turek, Ravi Zacharias, and a few more.

In this presentation, Mr. D'Souza addresses many different topics, including but not limited to the following...
  • Why is it important for Christians to defend their faith with material outside of the Bible?
  • What is the difference between "old atheism" and "new atheism"?
  • Is a person's faith determined by where they were born or raised?
  • Are so-called "religious wars" always fought for ideological reasons?
  • What are the strongest arguments used in promoting "new atheism"?
  • What have Christianity and atheism done for the world at large, and America in particular?
  • Can science and reason be used to explain Christianity?
  • Are "natural laws" always consistent everywhere in the universe?
  • Why do most atheistic arguments always end with Charles Darwin?
  • Which religions are responsible for which historical crimes?
  • What influence can Christians have in secularized societies?

Good grief. Are you serious with this? Nobody ever watches these hour long videos you keep posting.

Completely.

You don't know that; if even one person watches and understands these, then they have served their purpose.

Here's ten hours of elevator muzak. Far more interesting than the fundamentalist pulpit pimps you posted.

mod note - I've had a discussion with moviefan2k4 and I think he understands the standards for commentary for starting a new thread. I've updated his initial post and reopened the thread.

Re: Dinesh D'Souza: Answering Difficult Questions

Okay. So what's the Bible say about gluttony? And hypocrisy? And fornicating with married women? And stealing other people's work?

*crickets*

Gee, what a surprise. Apparently the great Biblical scholar is slurping down his ninth bowl of Apple Jacks and watching Flipper reruns while Mommy does his laundry.

Reference Rudyard Kipling. The female of the species is more deadly than the male.

Re: Dinesh D'Souza: Answering Difficult Questions

Miss Pris,

You were just given a warning. Here is another: If you continue to post in a manner which flaunts the posting guidelines, continue to address only the poster in veiled personal attacks, as opposed to the posts and topics, you will find yourself on vacation from the forum. Please either adhere to the rules, or let me know if you don't want to continue posting here.

Thank You.

He's a troll. Only in real life (not just an internet blogger).

Other than that, he represents the hatred that you see in Youtube comments. The way everything devolves into discussion about religion and politics.

Imagine our real life conversation went like this:

Me: Hey CRM, how you doing today? Catch Breaking Bad last night?

CRM: Does it anger you that you elected a socialist president? Also, agnostics and atheists are all immoral.

Why do you believe that?

Oh and by the way your idol the fucking hypocrite is also an adulterer.
He's not my idol, and from what I've read, he was legally separated from his first wife for over two years when he took who was then his fiance' to a public meeting. The real issue though, is why you and so many hold Christians to the impossible standard of perfection, when no one fits that requirement but God. I committed adultery in the past, but I repented and have been forgiven by God; who are you to say His grace isn't enough in that regard?

It says they're all sins, but you're making some crucial errors in your reasoning. First, not all overweight people are gluttons. Second, all of us are hypocritical about something, which is why we need God every day. I've already addressed the theft accusations in other threads, too.

Now, let's get back on topic, please.

Re: Dinesh D'Souza: Answering Difficult Questions

I don't see how "There are a lot of hellfire preaching idiots, but this guy isn't one of them" is commentary. You do nothing to address any of the actual points he makes in the video, which is why no one is discussing it.

You're just not looking hard enough. Or praying hard enough. The commentary is indeed there, it's just...oh, forget it. It's bullshit.
