In one you are giving a child little chance of survival, in another you are giving them a very good chance, and in another you are giving them none whatsoever?

I think you might want to do some reading about the history of foundling hospitals.

That said, there will always be a fundamental disconnect between those who believe that life begins at conception and those who do not. Luckily your position is a minority one and women are not controlled by your beliefs.

I'm not sure how someone can say life *doesn't* begin at conception, and I'm completely pro-choice.

Life doesn't truly begin until divorce.

I don't say that. I say personhood doesn't begin at conception.

I think life begins before conception. Sperm cells can swim around on their own.

...and I think I've committing mass genocide since I was thirteen!

Personhood is a legal question - not a medical one.

When does a soul get attached? That's not exactly a medical one either, but presumably it's the difference between a shrimp and a zygote to the prolifers.

You never give up, do you?

A legal question based on facts. Which happen to be medical.

Look, everyone will never agree on this. But again, you are obfuscating objective facts with definitions. If someone is going to define the very beginning of brainwaves as brain birth, then yes, brain birth comes very early. Of course, still not early enough for those who think personhood begins at conception.

I am not saying my definition of brain birth is "right." I'm saying it makes sense to me. More sense than any other definition I've heard proposed. Which is why I think the legal question should be answered based on brain waves beginning to resemble the way they are throughout the entire rest of one's life. Will everyone agree with me? Will everyone accept my definition? I can't even get you to stop pretending to misunderstand me when I'm being perfectly clear and it's very simple. So no.

Marco Rubio believes creationism should be taught alongside with science

*sigh Really what is wrong with the Republican Party? Will they ever move into the 21st century?

What's wrong with that? When my daughter got old enough, we taught her that babies come from the male fertilizing the female egg AND that storks dropped them through chimneys.

Dumb-as-fuck statement from a member of our science committee = GOP front-runner for 2016!

A republican advocating creationism AND evolution is a moderation of their position

Re: The 2016 Presidential Election thread

Rubio was obviously dodging the question. He didn't want to answer one way or the other. He's probably already in campaign mode for 2016. He has to watch what he says.

At least Rubio doesn't advocate teaching creationism in public school science classes...as far as we know.

I'm not a scientist, man.
The reporter was probably thinking, "You're not an economist either. But that fact doesn't stop you from running your mouth about the economy."
