A number like that in isolation is just about meaningless.

Hardly isolated. It's straight from the latest CDC report on HIV and AIDS in the US. But yeah, it's meaningless.

What were past incidence rates? What percentage of those cases came from immigrants?

Yeah and 1.2 million people in the United States are HIV positive. That's about a 2.7% conversion rate. What was it in 1985?

Not relevant to the statement the post was in response to.

Want to know more, read the full report. I linked it, not going to spoon feed it to you.

Not relevant? The number you cited was how many people in the US were diagnosed with AIDS. It says nothing about where they were when they developed AIDS, which was the original statement you were responding to. It couldn't be more relevant.

Lots of people showing up at Chik Fel La today to show their support. Early estimates are half a million. It's causing traffic jams in Texas. Looks like (despite the media's polls) a lot of folks aren't supporting gay marriage.

I completely missed that. So the conversion rate isn't even 2.7%. Good catch.

Isn't that Chick-Fil-A on any ordinary day?

In Texas? I'm shocked.

I seriously doubt that especially coming from you. I bet you got that figure from Fox News or Huckabee's facebook page. If they got anywhere ever near 100,000 it would be front page news at all major news sites, and it is currently barely getting any mention on what the turnout for both sides are.

It's not just in Texas. Check out the pics people are posting on Twitter. Some of those drive-through lines are crazy.

That was the number of AIDS cases in one year. The latest year reported.

I never said that no one in the developed world develops AIDS any longer. I said "generally." How is a 2.7% conversion rate not generally? What would be generally for you? 2.4%? 1.9%? 0.7%?

Saw some, honestly looks about par for the course with Chick Fil A.

Place has always inexplicably been a gold mine, here at least, with drive thru lines wrapping the building and going onto main roads and zero room to move around inside.

Why does it have to be one or the other? I don't see how eating a sandwich means you hate gays.

Keep spinning.

I said the scrawny guy looked like he had AIDS and you tried to inform me that people don't develop AIDS in the developed world.

They do.

Also being opposed to gay marriage doesn't mean you hate gays.

No, it just means you think they don't deserve the same set of rights that heterosexuals have.

I think it is a weird/hard issue for some. A lot of people want them to have the same rights as straight couples; they are just uncomfortable with conveying those rights via marriage.

Stop it right there. There's no such thing as a weird/hard issue or any level of nuance here in the Political Forum.

Even so, it's still a case of "I have something. Since you're 'different,' I guess you can have it too, but you have to promise to call it something else."

so stupid.
