Re: The Chicken Eaters are revolting thread
Destination wedding? Maybe the wedding reception is local so more people can attended? Or maybe they are doing it in a state where it is legal?

It's illegal for them to get married in their home state, but it's not illegal for them to hold their wedding reception in their home state. There's something dysfunctional about that, but it's not the location of the reception.

Re: The Chicken Eaters are revolting thread
I'm not sure the two groups are comparable unless we wanna include 3rd world countries or the age where Christians were fed to lions. As for the cake stuff? Boycott is fine; get the word out, call a paper or two. Things won't change until stuff like this becomes commonplace. I'll jump in at "this went too far" once it gets to police, civil, or zoning action.

Well, then there is the fact that typically Christians in the US are not really being persecuted when they say they are; Christians are a majority. When a Christians complain about all the "Christian bashing" they mean snide comments from people who don't agree the Bible should be an alternative to science in school. When gays talk about "Gay bashing" it could actually be a physical brick to the forehead as they exit a nightclub...

I saw a news photo of that bakery owner tonight and he looked like he hadn't bathed in a month. I wouldn't eat anything he prepared anyway.
And my opinion here is the same as with Chick-Fil-A: vote with your feet if you disagree.

It's possible that they're getting married in Massachusetts and having their reception at home in Colorado, so family and friends can celebrate without having to spend a lot of money on travel costs.
Or, you know, what you said. It's probably what you said.

Props to you for calling it - I should've put more thought into my post. I wasn't really referring to possible logistical reasons for the location, just their admitted cursing, flipping off and subsequent tantrum... instead of dysfunctional I'd say it was an emotionally immature reaction.

So, instead of just respecting the beliefs of the business owner, moving on, and finding someone who would make the cake they want, they take it to the media and organize a boycott. The gay community is quickly becoming the most insufferable, whiny group of sissies out there.
Or what about "Whites Only" establishments, restaurants for example, that existed prior to the Civil Rights Act? Would you argue that any rejected Black customers should simply move on, and find a restaurant that would be willing to serve them?

Re: The Chicken Eaters are revolting thread
I want some outrage and boycotting of the bar I went to Sunday night for their lack of understanding of "domestic".
Went for some wings and a couple beers. Large sign said "Sunday Funday. Domestic drafts $2.50". So I sit down at bar near the taps and the only domestic they had there were Fat Tire and Flying Dog (they had Guinness, Bass and Stella as well if I remember). So through some wings and watching the Olympics I have several Fat Tires. Got bill and was charges $5.00. When I nicely said he forgot to charge me the special he said "oh, Fat Tire isn't on special". When I pointed to the sign, I said per your sign it is. He said no again. So I asked if thought Colorado was no longer part of the US. He said I was being an ass. So I said, well then was Flying Dog the only special then. He said those werent included either. I was like (but didn't say) wtf. He said he had a Miller Light and Bud tap behind the bar. When I pointed out that Bud was bought by InBev and could be argued is no longer a US Company. He looked at me like I had a horn growing out of my head.
Would it have been that hard for the sign to say "Bud and Miller Light $2.50"? Heck that isnt really that great of a del for cler beer anyway.

That's apparently an old one they furnished for their press release.
This one is newer. One of them looks emaciated. AIDS?
At a minimum he looks like he needs a shower.

Re: The Chicken Eaters are revolting thread

If I was shopping for a wedding cake (or anything else), I'd want to know if the business I was considering supporting had treated others with a lack of equality and basic human decency. I'd absolutely take my dollars elsewhere if they had. It's as simple as that. Glad these guys are getting the word out.

Do you not know what that means?
He looks like he weighs about 75 pounds.
He looks like he weighs about 75 pounds.
emaciated - very thin especially from disease or hunger or cold; "emaciated bony hands"; "a nightmare population of gaunt men and skeletal boys"; "eyes were haggard and cavernous"; "small pinched faces"; "kept life in his wasted frame only by grim concentration

I don't get it ... with Chik - fil -A, it was:
"He's just expressing his opinion, it's not like they're turning away or being rude to gay customers"
but now with the bakery guy, where they are actually DOING that, it's:
"you gays are just a bunch of sissies. Go get a cake somewhere else, who cares?"

I thought this thread was about being against government censorship? The baker is clearly an asshole (and in the wrong) and they have every right to notify the gay community about it. I hope he goes out of business because of it.
