Maybe this is not a hoax.
The winners were Syukuro Manabe of Princeton University, Klaus Hasselmann of the Max Planck Institute for Meteorology in Hamburg, Germany, and Giorgio Parisi of the Sapienza University of Rome.
The work of all three is essential to understanding how Earth’s climate is changing and how human behavior is influencing those changes.
“The discoveries being recognized this year demonstrate that our knowledge about the climate rests on a solid scientific foundation, based on a rigorous analysis of observations,” said Thors Hans Hansson, chair of the Nobel Committee for Physics.

Excellent summary by The New York Times: https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/...ges-cop26.html
- Before the Paris Agreement we were on track for 4C global warming by 2100.
- With current policies we will have about 3C warming.
- Countries have pledged actions to reduce warning to 2.2C
- We need to get to 1.5C to avoid the more catastrophic consequences of global warming.
There is a Climate Change Conference in Glasgow starting next week. I'm glad the ŪS will be represented by the Biden administration.

What does 3C global warming mean? It's not only rising water endangering coastal cities, but also drought, flood, and whatt heat does to the human body and human life. 16-minute video:

Achieving economic growth while reducing carbon emissions: it has been done (the US is one country) but we must do a lot more. We have stalled in the past few years. The emissions numbers are "trade-adjusted," meaning that outsourced production is still included (If a country does its manufacturing in Asia the emissions are still counted against them).

Most of the world is not doing enough to fight climate change (keep global warming to under 1.5C). From the New York Times: https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/...er-cop-26.html
Black is where we are, yellow is what countries have pledged to do, and blue is what they need to do.

Then you have people who argue that global warming and more CO2 are good things.

Hey, my nephew is on that student team and will most likely do his masters on that project:

The race to reduce the concentration of CO 2 in the atmosphere is resolutely on, and student research at UdeS is among the leaders.
Capture carbon dioxide directly from the atmosphere and use it to decontaminate asbestos sites: this is the ingenious and doubly green idea behind Skyrenu , a technology developed by a student team from the Faculty of Engineering with the INRS. Like twenty other student projects around the world, Skyrenu is one of the winners awarded by the famous engineer and entrepreneur Elon Musk, who launched the XPRIZE Carbon Removal competition .
Rewarded on November 10 at COP26, the team from the Sherbrooke U Faculty of Engineering received a prize of US $ 250,000 for their invention. The proceeds will be used to fine-tune the technology to qualify for the $ 50 million grand prize to be presented by the Musk Foundation in 2025.

Not sure where else to put this and I don't want to start a new thread. But I thought that this should be mentioned.
