I would loved to have seen Obama walk up to the pedistal w/ a mic in his had, say "We just killed Osama Bin Laden," drop the mic on the floor rapper style and just walk off the stage. That would have been so awesome that I think I would have seriously considered voting for him in 2012.

Guess some people still haven't see this.

Pretty good, but not as awesome as the droping the microphone would have been.

Re: Aftermath of bin laden liquidation

The Pakistani president issued a stern warning to the U.S. that any further U.S. raids into Pakistan will not tolerated.

If this means no more military excursions into Pakistan by U.S. forces, it's time for the U.S. to start a orderly withdrawal from Afghanistan - isn't it?

The President will meet with the members of the team that did the deed against OBL.

Does that mean that there will be pictures of the President congratulating the Seals that did the deed?

I'm certain that the public would like to know who the 2 Seals who were on the 3rd floor were - and which one did the shooting.

Unless the U.S. announces the results of any such raid, how would the Pakistani army/ISI even know about it? Heck, the Seals could come in and build a compound surrounded with razor wire a few blocks away from the Pak military academy, and they'd never know.

Re: The President's gamble...if both helicopters had failed & the rescue choppers hadn't arrived in time...or the U.S. forces had engaged with Pakistani military...this could have become Obama's "Jimmy Carter moment".

Also keep in mind that Pinetta has said that they didn't know if Bin Laden was at the compound or had EVER been at the compound.

BTW...how do three enemy choppers loaded with foreign military teams invade your airspace & carry out an operation that lasts for 40-45 minutes without anyone in a town teeming with your own military?

The public may love to know, but the Seals won't...unless they have no family or friends.

However, as one person put it, they'll never have to pay for a beer for the rest of their lives.

The Pakistani military (wisely) took the same "I see nothing" attitude towards engaging enemy helicopters and Seal Team Six as they took to looking for bin Laden 100 m from their prestigious military academy.

I suppose the "stern warning" means the next adventure will need fighter cover.

Who knows will all the mixed info out there, but in this story I read a couple days ago, it said the CIA not only previously recorded his voice in the compound but actually smuggled a camera inside (no idea how) and had a picture of him on the premises.

That doesn't mean they knew he was there at the time, but I think they had this pretty well dialed-in with surveillance.

I don't remember how reliable this is as a source.

Re: Aftermath of bin laden liquidation

CBS says Pakistan arrested dozens in Abbottabad for having ties to Bin Laden.
http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-503543_1...82-503543.html

That's a start, right?

Say what you will but I think Bin Laden being taken out by the SEALs is the best news America had since the Apollo moon landing in 1969.

That said, we still need to find out why the first helicopter crashed but with it destroyed, gonna be hard to do.

I hope Al Qaeda's funding will be greatly weakened now and their demise comes soon.

WaPo has a story saying that according to the prisoners they have interrogated, including 3 wives that were living with him, Pakistan is saying OBL was struggling both financially and to maintain control of a largely divided al-Qaida. The US is disputing that scenario, saying the evidence they collected shows he was perhaps even more active than we thought, providing direct guidance and instruction to al-Qaida in Yemen and Somalia.

News this morning said a wife said they lived in Islamabad 2 years before moving to "the compound" . To a degree I think Packistan will try to downplay now much of a threat he was to cover they fact he was living there for at least 7 years in population centers.

A suicide bombing in Pakistan today killed 80.

The Taliban claimed responsibility saying OBL's killing by the U.S. will be avenged.

U.S. officials have confirmed that a stash of porn was found in Osama bin Laden’s Abbottabad compound.
