The State of Union Message - 2011

Tomorrow night the president will deliver the message - required by The Constitution.

I'm certain that the new idea of seating the Repubs next to the Democrats will be a rousing success. My god - who in the hell come up with an idea like this? How will it look when the Democrat rises to his/her feet and claps like hell, and the Repub seating next to him/her remains in his seat with a scowl on his/her face?

The president has indicated that his message will be about jobs, jobs, jobs.
If he sticks to what he says, he'll have another rise in the polls. That's what people seem to be concerned about.

Do the people who account for these swings in the polls actually watch the SoTU address, or pay much attention to what's in it? Aren't they mostly just annoyed that their crap TV like American Idol is pre-empted?

It's a ploy to shame the Republicans into standing as well or deal with constant video clips of them sitting down and being labeled as obstructionists. "This is why we have problems, the Republicans aren't with us."

When people are standing up all over the place, it's hard to see the person next to them sitting down. As if anyone could stay seated. It's a speech from Obama. It will be impossible to watch and not be moved.

Is the Supreme Court going to be spread out sitting next to Wapner and Judy?

That. For good reason since the SOTU is a joke (even more than Idol). F you Woodrow Wilson.

I'll be watching the Purdue/OSU and Marquette/UConn games.

Re: The State of Union Message - 2011

American Idol is now on Wednesday and Thursday nights.

I think the CW has new episodes on during the Tuesday SOTU speech TV block of time.

According to Wikipedia, American Idol is on Wednesdays. Dancing With the Stars and The Biggest Loser are on Tuesdays.

Just think about how much tea party rage could be constrained just by having this speech during "Masterpiece Theater" instead.

Wow, One Tree Hill and Hellcats (whatever the hell that is). Tempting, but I think I'll stick with the plan in Post #14.

Does anyone here think he will say the state of the union is strong?

Believe it or not, it's a drama about a law school student who has to become a cheerleader to pay for school. And just knowing that much about the show makes me feel like I've bathed in used motor oil.

Hellcats has fantastic eye candy so that right there makes it more interesting than a single second of the SOTU.

Let's see...

Man must do something sordid due to financial need. Sounds just like Breaking Bad. Love that show.

He'll say the state of the union is improving and getting stronger...all the while adding more and more debt. 14 Trillion and counting...

Way to go Obama...instead of turning things around he's continuing down the same path as the people he replaced.

Idiocy is the one word that comes to mind.

Oh, so it's not a man. Still close enough. At least after the picture.
