How much do you know about Swedish criminal procedure?

And the week after Assange would happily publish documents from the Trump administration. You must think Trump is even stupider than I do.
So, Assange wasn't threatened/scared enough by Hillary (or Obama), releasing documents every day for several weeks, pounding her like something out of a sadistic porn video...but now you're saying Julian is somehow afraid of Trump?

A story about it. At some point there needs to be proof of life. We haven't had that in some time.

I'm saying the same things that I've been saying all along. Assange considers the U.S. an imperial power that needs to be cut down to size. He would jump at the opportunity to damage the U.S. regardless of who is in office. Trump probably isn't stupid enough to believe that Assange is his friend.

A Swedish prosecutor just questioned Assange. He's fine.

You are far too eager to countenance conspiracy theories.

I suppose we'll see. Most reports I read say the prosecutor questioned him THROUGH the Hondurans. I find myself skeptical of believing the majority view after this election.

I'll remain very skeptical until we see some proof. We haven't in about a month.

I think you are to trusting in what you are told.

Wikileaks posted a torrent of a CIA leak. They will post the password to the file at 9am EST. They've been calling this publication "Vault 7" for awhile.

tldr: The CIA can hack pretty much everything and can get any information that they want. Iphone, Windows, Android, Samsung smart tvs, possibly cars' driving systems can be hacked. Samsung tvs can be turned into microphones. The CIA was looking into hacking cars which would allow them to commandeer the vehicle. They get all this before encryption so that means squat. Basically, if its possible to hack, the CIA can probably hack it. The US consulate in Frankfurt is a big hacking site.

Also, they lost control of their spyware weapons and who knows who the fuck has them and is using them.

There are still more CIA dumps to come.

Going to be interesting to hear Sean Hannity and other Trumpkins spin this as anything other than a massive espionage operation against American national security interests.

Eh. I think this will be met with the same incredulity as people had with the whole Snowden/NSA thing, which was a collective shrug/meh ("duh, of course they're doing this shit"), and people will just move on to something that stokes their fake-outrage instead.

Probably just spyware on steroids. Less traceable, and is getting put on very high-security systems.

The CIA being really good at hacking is far less concerning than domestic dragnet surveillance. Everyone expects the CIA to snoop on foreign powers, so this just shows that our tax dollars are being put to great use. The NSA blatantly violating the Fifth Amendment in the US is in a completely different category.

That's a very positive spin to take on the revelations that the CIA has lost control of many of the backdoors it has made into various systems.

I thought the "Misdirect Attribution" was interesting.. only reason for that is to advance some sort of agenda. You know JA always denied Russia was in any way behind the DNC hacking and I always wondered why he would protect them.. He would probably just being truthful. The CIA, on the other hand, had reason to try to make it seem like it came from there. Just casts further doubt on the whole organization we are supposed to have our trust in. Nothing is going to change because of this though.

I actually think the timing of this release is quite interesting considering the heat that was turned on to Sessions last week about Russia ties (now a distant memory). Russia's argument to the world is that the US is just as corrupt as they are (as their surrogate Trump argued a couple of weeks ago to Bill O'Reilly) and this release plays right into their narrative and shifts the focus away from Russia-Trump ties.

For an organization called "Wikileaks," they sure talk about the U.S. a lot.

If Assange was working for public exposure of all government secrets, I *might* be on board with him. But its all about the US.

The whole thing is such a black eye for America. 7 fucking years and they are no closer to catching him or stopping the leaks. We pay billions for our secret services and this makes them look ineffectual.
