Our favorite ex-prez (GWB) is back...

http://www.salon.com/news/feature/20...ush/index.html

He not only put it in writing, he reinforces it on TV. He states that the worst moment of his presidency was when Kanye West said on TV that Bush didn't care about black people. WTF. Not 9/11. Not seeing dead soldier being returned. Not the devastation in New Orleans.

Why won't he disappear already?!

Seems he's been quite disappeared until this post.

What a fluff piece, trying too hard to make this an issue.

MATT LAUER: You say you told Laura at the time it was the worst moment of your Presidency?

PRESIDENT GEORGE W. BUSH: Yes. My record was strong I felt when it came to race relations and giving people a chance. And -- it was a disgusting moment.

So...if I don't bring it up, his book and the interview doesn't exist? Why don't we just stop posting about any problem. That way, they'll all disappear. Like magic.

It seems that no matter how obvious his flaws are, GWB has never and can never do any wrong in eyes of his supporters. Is outrage at Obama over health insurance increases better justified?

OTH, I give him credit for saying he won't voice his opinions about Obama. There...am I being fair and balanced (TM) enough?

Actually, there he just says it was a disgusting moment. It was only later in the interview that Matt Lauer says, "You say you told Laura at the time it was the worst moment of your Presidency?" which has a different meaning than it was the worst moment of his presidency in toto.

I love it that you think because Dave happens to lean conservative he's a Bush lover.

As for the OP, meh. I didn't like Bush then. Don't like him now. What do I care what he thinks is the worst moment in his Presidency? His whole darn 8 years sucked as far as I'm concerned!

And so I can be F&B too: Obama sucks. Worse.

What wrong has he done in this case? Been disgusted by being called a racist? Do you honestly think he discounts 9/11 in his thoughts? The book and interview are of note. This fascination with Kanye West being his "worst moment" is absurd.

He has done plenty wrong. But this looks like a reason to add another reason for some to continue to hate a guy they hated anyway. I am much more concerned about any current president than any ex-president. The only reason not to be is because one wants to make someone they currently support look good by comparison when their actual performance cannot be justified by itself.

I mean, James Polk...what an asshole, am I right? He was a lot worse than Obama.

Oh my god, an ex-President has written his memoirs! Shock! Outrage!

True, that was diplomatic of him. I saw snippets of the TV interview. It was amusing (galling is more accurate) when he crowed about having had no terrorist attacks "on his watch". Hmm, there was that one rather glaring exception, no? He was, and remains, offensively oblivious. The only thing he has going for him is his refusal to publicly slag Obama.

His father was also the same way with Clinton. Clinton....not so much. But, IIRC, Carter was relatively harsh on Clinton. That might be an overstatement, but I remember his saying things you wouldn't expect from an ex-president from the same party.

This is the first peep we've heard in almost 2 years. Why won't he disappear?

I'm a little confused. This thread has nothing to do with Nixon (my favorite president).

Seems like it's kind of standard protocol for ex-Presidents to not badger the current guy in the White House.

Of course, of the ex-Presidents in my lifetime, we've had Nixon (disgraced), Ford (barely counts), Carter (ineffectual president who became an annoying backseat driver), Reagan (Alzheimer's), Bush I (don't really remember him dogging Clinton, though I could be wrong), Clinton (pals around with Bush I, don't really recall him dogging Bush II).

Some would argue that the current president would better serve himself if he remained quiet at times.

More on Dubya:

1. He does not at all regret approving the water boarding of Khalid Sheik Mohammed and others.

2. Allegedly, he has been saying in private that Sarah Palin is not qualified to be President and that McCain ran a lousy campaign and ruined his chances of winning by picking her as a running mate.

I am glad he is standing his ground on #1.

Unfortunatley he is right on the 2nd point but it doesnt matter who McCain picked the left would demonize them. They made Dan Quayle the idiot (yes I know he made it easy) and Dick Cheney the devil. Well Palin is history as well. Whomever is chosen will be the victim of much hyperbole.....

1. It didn't matter who the Republican candidate was.

2. It didn't matter who the Republican VP candidate was.

3. Anyone the Republicans would have nominated would have lost.

4. The people were tired of Bush & the Republicans.

5. No Republican could have out-sold Obama on the change argument.

You appear to have missed it. GWB is coming out with a book - "Decision Points". I'd say that puts him back in the public eye.

you complain about him not disappearing. you complain about him coming back.

I think you need to pick one of the two to complain about. complaining about both is not logical.

What are you talking about? Him publishing a book is him not disappearing. Same thing. Perhaps I am not tuned into your logic - what exactly do you find to be mutually exclusive here?
