The One & The Only House Race Predictions

How many house seats will the Repubs pick-up this election?

If you think the Democrats will gain seats feel free to post how many.

Who is the one that voted less than 10?

I bet he/she doesn't wager on that.

Re: The One & The Only House Race Predictions

Where's the option for if we think the Republicans will lose seats?

(I'm an optimist -- I voted for 31-40).

I am guessing 56.

I would say the low end will be about 40-45 seats and the ceiling is about 65-70.

I heard a rumor today about Nancy Pelosi. A Democratic congressman supposedly said that she would not be the speaker in the next congress even if the Democrats retain control.

I wish her opponent was running in my district (or better yet, somewhere where the Democrat is beatable), since he has no chance to win in that myopic city. Her Republican opponent, John Dennis, is running to the left of her on issues such as gay rights, foreign/war policy, marijuana policy (Pelosi won't utter a word about Prop 19), and civil liberties.

Do you really think a Republican like that could get out of the primary in any district where the national party thought they had a chance?

Would it be likely? No. Possible? Maybe. This would have been the year for it.

Meanwhile, I'll continue to be stuck with the piece of crap, Moran. The other option isn't too appealing anyhow. Looks like I'll be abstaining.

I'd vote for John Dennis in a heartbeat. Why can't more Republicans be like him?

Hell, why can't more Democrats be like him on social and civil liberty issues?

Re: The One & The Only House Race Predictions

I have raised my prediction for the number of seats the GOP will pick-up.

I heard on Politico this morning the number of House seats in the northeast held by Democrats that were now competitive.

As long as Barney Frank loses. This guy had alot to do with the mortgage mess, and whether he was a dem or republican, he should be gone from congress.

Re: The One & The Only House Race Predictions

If the Repubs do win the House, Obama would be wise to go the Capitol and meet with the Repubs (only the Repubs).

If the Repubs win both houses, Obama should crawl on hands and knees to the Capitol.

No change in Washington..we like our dems..especially in the puget sound corridor.

Although Norm Dicks, while a dem, is pretty much a hawk.

Re: The One & The Only House Race Predictions

I would agree - Norm Dicks is a hawk.

He's the most powerful member of the House that you seldomly hear from on the floor.

He's chairman of the House Sub-Committee on Defense.

Looks like a Republican landslide in the House. Here's today's map from Real Clear Politics:

Re: The One & The Only House Race Predictions

I don't understand USAToday's House map. Even though they claim to use polling data from Real Clear Politics, they sure seem to be interpreting it very differently: they show Democrats with a huge margin (and retaining the House). 228 seats (safe and leaning Democratic), which is nearly 50 more seats than the RCP map.
