Social Security COLA 2011?

Its about a month away from the announcement. Everything points to no raise for the second straight year. Gas prices have recently gone up so that might help for a pay increase.

I hope there is a raise in SS. No raise in SS means no raise in CSR. Bad news for anyone receiving both.

And just what does that have to do with the subject of this thread?

There's sure to be a raise. No raise for 2010 was a form of correction for the huge raise the previous year due to gasoline being $5.00 a gallon. Even without gasoline being figured in there was a 5-6% cost of living increase in 2009 due to gasoline costs being passed on to consumer. Gas prices fell, so prices fell. Be glad they don't have a cost of living decrease adjustment.

Yes it is. I read an article yesterday stating that. If only I can find it because I read quite a few stories yesterday.

Even so. The higher cost of gasoline is passed on in the final price of products.

Re: Social Security COLA 2011?

Gasoline is figured in only indirectly as it affects other things, that is correct. An article may say that gasoline has an effect, but it would be an indirect effect.

Re: Social Security COLA 2011?

Just got an e-mail from Yahoo News-Inflation went up 0.3 percent because of increased gasoline prices. Cool. Hopefully this is a good sign for a COLA for next yr. Still got to wait for September's figures.
