Target: Boehner

Anyone have thoughts about the Dems specifically targeting Boehner on many fronts lately? Seems stupid to me in a time when they should be directing their attacks more cleverly at Republicans as a whole. Not many Americans will be voting for or against Boehner in November.

Maybe they think they already lost that battle and voters need a face to hate?

Attacks like this are more effective against Pelosi, but I don't think Boehner is negatively representative of a party in voters' minds nearly as heavily. Dems are sure being vigilant in trying to ensure that it becomes that way.

Have they chosen a good enemy?

After his remarks on Obama tax plan, the Republicans may target him too.

It's an election year....they can't target Rush and Beck.

Re: Target: Boehner

He's a shifty looking guy who is the potential next Speaker. Of course it makes sense to start bashing him. He's as equally an easy target as Pelosi. And he had a Howard Dean moment...

It's clearly a coordinated diversion tactic. There's no other reason this would happen so suddenly in such great volume. The Dems are desperately trying to draw the attention away from themselves, because most of the attention out there is negative.

I don't know who this gentleman is, but the OP needs to find a better photo of him. The color seems to be way off on that one.

Perhaps they chose him because he's the only Republican darker than Obama?

And the Pelosi attacks aren't coordinated?

Absolutely they are.

I believe they are more aligned with previous voter perceptions than the present attacks on Boehner. The Dems are trying to create something that wasn't there previously.

So why are you surprised? The only hope the Dems have in November is reminding people of the clowns on the other side and how they go us into this debacle and how they continue to obstruct any progress on any front.

I'm not surprised. I said it was stupid. That's about as unsurprising as it gets these days.

The only hope the Dems have is for Reed Richards to be real so he can invent a machine that will wipe everyone's memory of the incredible failure of nearly 2 years of complete Democrat control. But don't worry, if we pass $800 billion for Obama to blow on stupid one time shit, unemployment won't go above 8%. And we're in the summer of recovery, doncha know.

Re: Target: Boehner

I don't know much about Boner but he seems like a soft target. No one really knows who he is, so all they are doing is trying to first create a Gingrich that they can then go after. I don't think they have time for that. But what else do they have to go on? Policies?

Let's pretend I agree that everything that has happened is 100% the Republican's fault despite them not controlling the House and Senate. So...it is entirely their fault. But Obama, along with Reid and Pelosi, made a lot of promises. You know....ones about jobs, and the economy coming back. They own that. You can keep playing the blame game, but The Obama said he could handle it. He can't.

I can live with that. If the electorate wants to give just two years to clean up this problem, that is their right.

Take off your ideological blinders, Thor. Please!

This is an attempt by people on the Left to do with the name John Boehner exactly what people on the Right have successfully done with the name Nancy Pelosi --change the person into a symbol.

And you acknowledge that.

And you call what the Right has done "effective", and have NO criticism of it.

So why (Why? WHY!?) is the exact same strategy, with the exact same intention, when attempted by the Left, "stupid" and indicative of hate-mongering?

Re: Target: Boehner

1) I think it's stupid strategically because of who Boehner is. The same rules don't apply to all people and all parties.

2) I don't consider it hate-mongering any more than it is with Pelosi. I think the dems see it that way with Pelosi and are trying to take a similar approach. I never said I support the approach by Republicans, I said it is more effective.

Your ideological blinder detector is broken.

Perhaps, just perhaps, the electorate feels that The Obama has made things worse in two years.

Re: Target: Boehner

reasons he's a target:

1) he's set to be next speaker of the hizzle
2) he's bright, fucking orange
3) he made some public statements about tax cuts...etc. that didn't fly too well with other Repubs
4) he claims to be a "Blondie" fan but only owns their "Greatest Hits"
5) he has "stank-breath"
6) he tried to get Bronson Pinchot exiled to "Arabia" for attempting to get Perfect Strangers back on the air
7) he's an asshole
8) he pinch-hit for me when I'd gone 4-4 w/two doubles in the championship game
9) he's a republican
10) are you kidding me?

[hyperbole]Nobody knew who Nancy Pelosi was![/hyperbole]

Before she became Speaker, Nancy Pelosi was completely unknown to all but the most politically-engaged Americans, and still unknown to a lot of them as well. And now that she is Speaker, I would confidently wager that she is still unknown to most Americans.

Red Dog is correct. I made a hypothetical of me agreeing with everything you said. But in reality, most think that Health Care probably didn't do our economy any good. They were also against the stimulus bill and the bailouts. Doesn't matter if they were the right thing to do, people were against them, they were done anyway, and they didn't work. Why would anyone want to continue to give the Dems more time to do things they are against?
