Many Filers Confused by Stimulus Tax Credit

http://finance.yahoo.com/taxes/artic...dvice_strategy

Thank you Obama for this incredibly confusing credit. Actually, it's a brilliant way to save the government money. Obama gets to claim that he gave the American people a stimulus check of sorts and kudos to him. In reality, the credit is so confusing that millions end up with no extra money in their pocket.

Compare this mess to the Bush adminstration who actually made the IRS mail out real checks to people. So much simplier, less mess and confusion compared to this monopoly money Obama tactics.

Re: Many Filers Confused by Stimulus Tax Credit

Did you read the article?

The I.R.S. said its examiners would correct those errors, file the Schedule M for the taxpayers who neglected to do so and recalculate the filers' taxes to reflect the credit. But the sheer volume of errors involving the tax credit has added to the workload of the agency and could result in delays of several weeks or more for taxpayers whose returns were incomplete.

"We're making sure people get the credits they are entitled to," said Michelle Eldridge, a spokeswoman for the I.R.S. "But it's causing delays."
Yeah, a brilliant way to save money...

I never even noticed that line, but I just looked at Schedule M, and it looks like I made too much for it to matter. Thanks, President 'Stimulus.'

They are about equal in disaster to waste the taxpayer's money.

The Bush way cost the taxpayers a fortune to print and mail checks
The Obama way cost the taxpayers a fortune to correct returns, then print and mail checks

No real difference here.

The new tax credit, championed by President Obama as a follow-through on his campaign promise to provide broad-based tax relief, affects 95 percent of all Americans by cutting $400 from the total tax bill for individual filers and $800 for married couples.
Congrats on being in the top 5%! You probably pay more in taxes than CRM114 makes a year.

I'm finding a hard time praising either method.

Leave it to Obama to make our tax laws confusing. What next, the DMV will become a pain in the ass?
