Great example of wasteful government spending.

What about pictures of boobies? Or illegal photos? Will they archive those?

Re: Library of Congress to archive all of Twitter

One of my own tweets from tonight:

"Just read that the Library of Congress is going to archive all public tweets. That means I'm gonna be in the LOC. I can dig it."

I'm already trying to find a creative way of slipping this into my resume. On a more serious note, I'm fine with this. As a citizen, all I had to do to opt out of this was not make my tweets visible to the public. Since anyone can read my tweets anyway, I have no concern about being archived by Big Brother.

As someone with a background in history, I know how much of a cheap thrill it's been for me over the years to read journal entries and private letters that have been preserved by library archives. It humanizes the past, giving a glimpse into the actual people who have gone before. I suspect reading about Justin Bieber fandom and whether or not President Obama is the Antichrist will similarly fascinate future historians. I just hope that "Robot Skeleton Army" really hits the Twitter big time. That has the potential to scare the ever-loving hell out of some unsuspecting history students in a decade or so.

Re: Library of Congress to archive all of Twitter

No, the government only invented the Internet, and the Internet invented Twitter. And Twitter invented 140 characters.
