Later, Obama blamed Bush and said that he had inherited the previous administrations mastery of the English language.

The Commander in Chief. There's a new strategery in town.

Okay, fine, what can you expect from the editor of the Harvad Law Review.

I'm looking at my checklist here and it appears Obama is just one pretzel shy of actually being George W Bush.

Wasn't Rev. Wright in the Marines? Probably during one of his "AmeriKKKA" sermons, he was on a roll with "God bless America?! God [email protected] America! Marine Corps?! Marine CORPSE!!", and it just stuck with Obama.

He said he was getting rid of Don't Ask, Don't Tell.

Also, someone posted this yesterday. But I do agree that the fact that the President mispronounced a word deserves its own thread.

This is brilliant. You can't be killed if you're already dead. The corpse corps will vastly reduce casualty statistics.

He's the Commander in Chief. Imagine if the CEO of a bank did not know how to pronounce "financial" or if the CEO of Ford did not know how to pronounce "automotive."

Imagine if Bush had done it and how we would laugh about how stupid he must be. Imagine how we'd post pictures of chimps next to pictures of Bush. I am begining to think Obama is not a very smart man based on comparisons to that dolt Bush.

I agree, if this were Bush we'd have videos of chimps flinging shit at each other by now.

Obama, like most intellectuals, is only "smart" in the areas he has studied. I'll leave it to you to determine whether or not Obama has ever studied the US military.

CORPSMAN

Such a common, everyday word.

Including this very thread about Obama's mispronunciation of it, do you know how many times the word CORPSMAN has been used (originally) by DVD Talk posters in the last six years?

Spoiler:
SEVEN

Spoiler:
And all seven times it was the same person that did it: chess.

Re: Obama outs Zombies in the military

Uh, yeah, but it's common knowledge (or should be, for a Harvard grad and Columbia prof) that "corps" is pronounced "core."

I'm not sure how often in the past year 13 + 7 has come up, but I sure as shit know that it equals 20.

Nail hit on head.

Also, why did "Christian" become "Christopher" in his speech?

That's the automatic censoring on the teleprompter. "Christian" is considered offensive to Muslims. It also changes "Jew" to "Jupiter" and "God" to "Groucho."

Maybe he also says "Peace Corpse" and "Corpse of Engineers" because it is such a difficult word for a Harvard guy who is a genius.

I will admit that I don't know a lot of cultural differences, so it is possible that he chose to use his negro dialect during this speech, but I honestly don't know enough about that. We should ask Senator Reid for confirmation.

"Corps" shows up 495 times. Maybe he just isn't good when words get too long?

Maybe superficial ideologues will live in any degree of self delusion necessary to rationalize not calling their 'savior' on things they routinely called 'that evil person on the other side' on.

Maybe that's it?

"Constitution" has been used 490 times on DVDTalk. I hope that tricky one doesn't come up in a speech.

Obama's critics would probably be well-advised to avoid using any "chimp" videos.

He must not because you've never started a thread to point it out.

Could you guys get together and decide whether you are criticizing Obama for mispronouncing a rarely seen and not commonly used word, or mocking him for mispronouncing CORPS, which he has only done in your imaginations --because I'm absolutely certain that you can fantasize about him doing much more terrible things, that you can then criticize.
