That's also why they're asking for a second stimulus when the first one isn't used up yet.

I believe Obama will be re-elected also. Not because he's done anything spectacular mind you. It's because of the stimulus that he's waiting to interject into the economy at election time. That's why he won't use it all now to help fix things, he's waiting for election time.
That's also why they're asking for a second stimulus when the first one isn't used up yet.

When birther Joseph Farah is a key speaker at the convention, and other speakers make statements like, "Republicans would be wise to listen to us" (without any reference to Democrats) it is pretty obvious to anyone what the Tea Party movement is about.

The Tea Party Movement involves more than just "New Coke Republicans.'
There are libertarians & populists & others in the movement.
And, they're a lot more than just birthers in the movement.

And if it comes from c-man it could be categorized as a fossil fuel
Anyway, this is definitely one of the more entertaining threads at the Politics forum. I am happy that Palin continues to stay in the news so I can be entertained for many more months to come (and one of the reasons I'm not that scared if she becomes President).

I realize we do live in a fossil fuel age; and, for the foreseeable future we're going to live in that age.

Don't you think the birthers and racists will eventually scare off the people who are actually interested in fiscal reform? I mean, yes, there are problems with the way the economy is headed, but a group that counts Orly Taitz and the worldnutdaily guy as members doesn't exactly look like a viable option for any meaningful change.

I now believe c-man to be a bot that auto-replies "Obama too!" every time somebody posts something negative about Palin.

I remember the Reform Party movement that was the result of Ross Perot's candidacy. Some of my friends were involved. They would be considered blue collar, red-neck backwater yokels. But they did some actual work for their cause. Getting petitions signed, working through the maze of paperwork to get recognized as a political party. They were frustrated about the system. But rather than wallow in feel-good venting, they channeled that into something constructive. (I'm sure that there were a share of moonbats as well, but I don't recall encountering any)
By contrast, Tea Partiers demonstrate the same infantile behavior that many liberal activists demonstrate. The Tea Partiers look more like attendees of a "Let's Make a Deal" reunion than serious reform movement.
And like any other movement based on emotion, as those emotions fade, so will participation.
So rather than do the hard work of creating a formal political party they take the easy way out... make noise to influence the Republican party. That isn't going to work. But it doesn't surprise me that they think that it will... especially since they embrace Palin and birthers.
