No, we have no issues with that. It's just that we don't want a poorly-educated, overly-religious, ignorant, anti-choice, redneck bitch in office. ANY office.

Replace the "redneck B word" with the N word, apply it to Obama and tell me it's not racist.

Just trying to be fair and balanced with the race card plays that Obama gets.

You fail at logic.

Just because another politician is mean, that doesn't make Palin not mean. Your "argument" is like saying Jeffrey Dahmer isn't bad because Ted Bundy killed more people.

With these comments, you couldn't be more clueless in race issues if you tried.

How about "I don't want a willfully ignorant, superstitious eliminationist in the white house"? Sex, age, orientation, or ethnicity doesn't enter into it.

As long as the "Tea Party" associates itself with Palin, WorldNetDaily, Rush Limbaugh, etc, any rational message of deficit reduction will be ignored. I hope that sometime in the future, a less deranged group of people could gather to push a limited government agenda without all the religious, wingnut bullshit.

You forgot Orly Taitz. It would have been soooo easy for them to gain an ounce of credibility by tossing her out on her nutty ass, but they didn't, so there you go.

What it comes down to is that Independents are getting bigger, with more voting power by the year, and they hate Palin.

Did I say she wasn't mean?

I said there are quite number of politicians a hell of a lot meaner than Palin - the Speaker of the House for one.

Not at all. Every Democrat I talk to is THRILLED she was nominated for VIP in 2008, and would like nothing more than for her to be the presidential nom in 2012. Even better would be if she ran under a third party ticket and split the Republican vote.

Yeah, if the Repubs want to lose, they should put Palin on the ticket - while her fans may be rabid super-fans, her non-fans vastly outnumber them.

Re: Is Sarah Palin going to be our next President?

I know it's a popular Dem talking point, but I don't believe that Palin caused a net loss in votes for the GOP in 2008.

Now, of course, she's pretty radioactive.

Maybe not, but she's a symptom of McCain camp's attempt to appeal to the Republican base instead of to the middle -- and that definitely cost him votes.

The Republican base views McCain as basically a hippie and he was never going to beat Obama among the centrists.

A conspiracy theorist would conclude that it is the two major parties that encourage the wingnuts to join these type of "independent" causes. It helps ensure the status quo.

No credible Democrat was going to lose in 2008.

The problem with/for Palin is that she appeals strongly to about 25% of the voters, turns off almost twice that many, and the rest are indifferent. The GOP nominating her would be like the Democrats nominating someone like Kucinich.

I agree with all that. I just think the "She cost McCain the election" line is a bit of wishful thinking. She may have cost him a good number of moderates and some high-profile intellectuals, but my belief is that she probably made up for that with the increased support from evangelicals.

I would agree, but of course I'd like to see some data supporting the argument.

At the head of the ticket (and especially after stepping down as governor of Alaska) I think she's be a disaster.

Re: Is Sarah Palin going to be our next President?

It would certainly be interesting if both parties had a no-quit challenger that made it a battle of four.

The winner may be the party that has the most extreme "other" candidate to siphon of the fewest moderates. Or it could play out very differently.

Evangelicals wouldn't have voted for Obama if Satan himself was McCain's running mate.

John McCain was a lousy candidate. That's what cost John McCain the election. Of course the Democrat who sold the change argument didn't help McCain's chaces any either.

What does the stepping down as governor has to do with 2012?
