So Palin advocated for those who work on Sundays to be executed? Wanted to make eating pork illegal?
I’ve never heard her going after divorcees so this just seems like something petty to get excited about. I think two sites I ran across were using other people’s tweets to criticize Palin for the divorce and one was mocking her family for being “a circus.” So having a daughter who had two kids without being married, and getting a divorce is a apparently a circus. Good to know.

I will say, I don’t believe I’ve ever heard a progressive argue the gov’t should do something because it follows the Bible, but that’s a fairly common stance among the evangelical right.
Michael Moore argues that our laws should reflect Jesus’s teachings.
And Democratic politicians have gotten in the habit of citing The Bible and Jesus when arguing for universal healthcare, taxes and social programs in general.

Re: The Re-Elect President Sarah Palin 2016 Thread

The point is that Palin and her ilk have repeatedly worked against gay marriages and rights using the tired “sanctity of marriage” and “what the Bibles says” crap over and over yet she doesn’t apply what she preaches in her own home. Her daughter was pregnant before marriage, which again, is not a bad thing but they make it to be since they side with the conservative believe that virginity is important and sex should be reserved for marriage.

As for Democrats using the Bible, this really is more to show the hypocrisy of the GOP more than believing that religion should be part of governance and policies. The GOP keeps using Christianity and the what would Jesus do stuff to promote their agenda, yet they do the complete opposite. They bash the LGBTQ community and try to take their rights at every turn and they have condoned the separation of children at the border and keeping them in cages. Just like Jesus would do, right?

Yeah, all that! but as we've determined, republicans don't care about their own hypocrisy, so what can you do?

Don't forget the important part, that this happened TWICE, and the second time was in the midst of a lecture tour on TEEN ABSTINENCE.

It's almost like they operate under a different set of rules, laws, and morality than the ones they want to hold everyone else to.

Is there anyone on the right who's opposed to divorce, outside of Catholic conservatives? Certainly not Trump, or Reagan, or Newt Gingrich, or Rush Limbaugh. Some posts are creating a straw man.

No, but the bible is very clearly opposed to it. It's mentioned far more times, including by Jebus, than homosexuality. Yet when bakers refuse service to same-sex weddings, they cite the bible as their reasoning. We often ask if they have the same requirements to divorced patrons, and we never get an answer.

The religious right has traditionally been in favor of making divorce more difficult, especially by wanting to eliminate no-fault divorces.

When he was governor of California, Ronald Reagan signed a law allowing no-fault divorce. Though if Reagan (or LImabaugh or Gingrich) were appearing at an religious right event, they would be hostile toward the idea of divorce and the attendees wouldn't question them on their own backgrounds.

The right has a complicated relationship with the concept of divorce. In the abstract sense, they seem to believe divorce is a grave moral wrong, but in practice, a lot of them do get divorced. It's often said that, statistically, the least likely people to get divorced are atheists.

No it’s not. It’s more like “two can play at that game.” Just like how Progressives are saying that Democrats should not take the higher road and instead go low like Republicans if that’s what it takes to win.

Democrats and people like Michael Moore see that it works for Republicans so they’re trying to use the Bible angle too. Michael Moore has a whole segment in one of his films where he’s arguing that capitalism and capitalist government policies are antithetical to Christianity. When asked some years back if he was a socialist he dodged the question by saying “I’m a Christian.” This was before Bernie and AOC made the term “Democratic Socialist” popular.
It’s almost as if people on both sides only use religion when it suits them.

Keep in mind I’m not trying to draw a false equivalence. The Republican Party is like thee exploited Christianity more. But when some Democrats or progressives try to do the same you shouldn’t jump

Palin seems to be out of the picture politically these days so I don’t see the point in celebrating her recent divorce proceedings. It’s low hanging fruit in my opinion. But that was a pathetic reach, her trying to blame her son’s behavior on Obama. Smh.

Sarah Palin is the very definition of someone I'd hate-fuck.

(I think a lot of conservatives feel the same about AOC, but they'd never admit that to themselves, much less to others)

The weird compulsion among her haters to claim she’s hot always fascinated me.

She’s not that hot. But it seems like the more a person dislikes her the more a person perceives her as attractive. It’s weird.

AOC’s not hot either.

It's almost like "hotness" is subjective?

it’s probably because most politicians have traditionally been old and unattractive. And male. A female politician that’s mildly attractive is like a novelty to some people which leads to comments like “I’d bang/hate-fuck her.”

It's also sexist and ugly, like calling Hillary Clinton a "whore." We don't just despise them politically but want to degrade them sexually.

One of the Daves who posted here. Of course it was in reference to the idea of Clinton as a politician selling herself to corporate interests and lobbyists, but he got pretty graphic and gross about it at times.
