I've heard this from others. It appears they don't know how many Democrats they have in the House and the Senate.

The White House is calling out for informants. You can all help Obama by snitching on your friends and neighbors.

There is a lot of disinformation about health insurance reform out there, spanning from control of personal finances to end of life care. These rumors often travel just below the surface via chain emails or through casual conversation. Since we can’t keep track of all of them here at the White House, we’re asking for your help. If you get an email or see something on the web about health insurance reform that seems fishy, send it to [email protected].

I wonder which Czar will be in charge of the list?

What a moron. "I could go on all day and never exaggerate." He says that after saying, "if you are one of the lucky ones with insurance." They aren't the lucky ones...most people do have insurance. "Then you fill out endless insurance forms." I never do that. The hospital or doctor's office fills out all those forms for reimbursement. I don't.

I wonder if he has ever encountered any of the things he talks about or just assumes that is what life is like for most people. Because he doesn't live that life.

Assclown.

He certainly is.

Why is taking $3,000,000 in total campaign donations make a politician MORE beholden to the medical care lobby than taking $18,000,000?

The bottom line is that both Republicans and Democrats couldn't care less for improving the healthcare system. The fact that I don't see any medical associations, pharmaceutical companies, and medical insurance companies advertising the dangers of the Obamacare plan tells me that they WANT the plan and expect to make MORE money once the whole thing becomes one big bucket of government money.

Really?! This is the first time that I've heard of a pubic option. Does that option cost more for men than women? How will it be measured?

There might not be any other reasons for a reticence to speak out against the plan?

We know what the obvious reason that some Democrats (quite a few, I would imagine) are reluctant to speak out against he plan.

I'm sure that there are other POSSIBLE reasons, but none that are as probable. All elements of the health care system are for-profit. They'll go where they (individually or corporately) make more money. That's the bottom line. If the implication is one of intimidation/retaliation holding them back from expressing criticism, then difference between status quo and Obamacare must not be enough of a difference to act. But even THAT comes down to money.

Re: Health care reform discussion continues...

Henry Waxman was on The Daily Show last night discussing Heath Care reform and whatnot.

Henry Waxman
Henry Waxman's goal of health care reform is simple, but the solutions turn it into a morbidly obese bill.

More people in the pool and largely not responsible for their medical spending has to make overall spending go up. What's not to like if you're an association whose members' overall revenue is going to rise?

Re: Health care reform discussion continues...

If there is a health care bill passed this year, it will be a modfied 'co-op' type plan.

From what Sen. Snowe said this morning, the Senate is not even close to agreement; and, she says they're meeting every day.

Most doctors are divided on this issue. They know that for the most part they get their money when they bill Medicare. They also know that without the increased fees from private insurance they may not continue to be able to work. I think many would hope for a 'single payer' because the insurance companies are such a destructive presence in their day-to-day. I doubt it would help them in the long term, however.

I think most insurance companies will stand to make a great deal of money with whatever version of this eventually appears.

NYC the doctors offices are very inefficient. we have a lot of offices with one doctor and a receptionist. you have to take time to see the doctor and then go somewhere else for a test if you need it. and then maybe go to a separate specialist who may not even know your PCP

i'm not in favor of obamacare, but if something like this would come to pass it would probably force doctors to come together and open up offices where you have several specialities and you can have tests done at the same time.

Re: Health care reform discussion continues...

To show you how the cost of health care has risen, I recently had a 24-hour urine sample analyzed. The amount the lab charged my insurance was $1,579.00. I had the same thing done 1 1/2 years ago. The amount then was $750.00.

btw: The lab was a preferred provider and was paid $249.00 by Blue-Cross. I owe nothing.

I await with bated breath to see what my 2 MRIs given 2 weeks ago costs.

Re: Health care reform discussion continues...

Sen. Tom Coburn introduced a rather interesting amendment that makes the Senators take whatever public option there is for their insurance coverage. Needless to say, it was defeated. Every Republican, except one, voted for it. Every Democrat, except one, voted against it.

btw: This vote occurred last month on a mark-up in the committee.
