Palin 2012?
Sarah Palin in 2012?
The 2008 presidential election is less than two weeks away. But that's old news. Let's talk about who's going to run in 2012, shall we?
Andrew Romano of Newsweek speculates that Gov. Sarah Palin may be gearing up for a run at the White House in four short years. The blogger acknowledges that the idea might seem a bit wacky at first glance. However, he cites several examples of Palin disagreeing with her running mate, John McCain, that support his theory. To name but a few, Gov. Palin has publicly disagreed with Sen. McCain on North Korea, gay marriage, and those oh-so-irritating robo-calls. Romano writes that it's almost as if Palin is putting herself in a position where she can say, "It wasn't my fault," should the Obama-Biden ticket prevail as it looks like it may.
But that's not all. According to several sources various Republicans are "considering" Palin as a 2012 presidential candidate. The Daily Telegraph speculates that "Ms Palin seems to be positioning herself for a long future on the national scene." The Washington Post writes: "Like her or hate her, Palin remains VERY much in the mix as a 2012 candidate."
Of course, there hasn't been any official announcement. Still, it's worth noting that searches on a possible Palin presidency are already picking up steam. We're not sure if the lookups are sincere or ironic, but "palin 2012," "sarah palin for president," and "palin for president stickers" are all making noise.
In short, 2012 may be four years away, but it's already looking like Caribou Barbie has enough buzz to make another play, should she and McCain fall short in '08.

Who's going to run on the Republican Side? Palin, Romney, maybe Frist? All she'd have to do is "backpack" around the world as Governor and deal with energy talks and economic pacts and she'll "have" the credentials.
There really isn't much talent in the Republican Party that has the enthusiasm like Palin.

Based on the insane hatred and bitterness towards her I've seen over the past few weeks I'd say she ain't never gonna see the inside of the oval office no matter what.
Apparently she has raped many a childhood.

I'm sure she'll be in the herd of candidates come January 2009, er, 2012 when the primary season has it's unofficial, official start. I doubt she makes it any further than the other members of the nutball wing (Santorum, Brownback, etc.)

I think Palin's political career outside of Alaska is done after this.

I suspect more like running for Senate in 2014 against the guy who is going to beat the Ted. That is if she wants to go to Washington. Hell a lot can change in 1 year, much less 4 or 6 years.

The amazing thing is how close McCain was to not being the nominee; if Thompson dropped out before the SC primary, Huckabee would have won and allowed it to be Romney v Huckabee.

I could see Jindal as part of the intellectual pick of the Republicans where Palin would be the grassroots candidate. The talk about Pawlenty being an unenthusiastic pick for VP on Morning Joe makes me think he's probably a dud in the national stage. And there's the whole bachelor problem with Crist.

Palin has already proven she's not very Presidential. They will be pointing back to her deer in the headlights look even in 2012.

Joe may go off on wild tangents. He may fire off a few gaffs now and then, but I think he understands the issues better than Palin.

So are US troops considered terrorist in Iraq since? Were US troops terrorist in Vietnam? We essentially tried to force democracy into Vietnam unsuccessfully and with resistance. It seems we're doing the same in Iraq. Is this too liberal of thinking? I think I need to listen to a Toby Keith album and watch more NFL football.
