I simply don't believe it. I think the $250k will become something like $60,000 when the dust is settled. Maybe lower. But I am interested in seeing if you actually believe it.

Single or joint filers? Also, do we take into account his wanting to bump certain credits?

I believe I have been as specific as I have heard Obama be.

I assume this includes FICA, correct? If so, I think taxes will be raised (beyond the FICA maximums already set) - I don't believe his donut-hole plan. Not with a filibuster-proof Democratic Senate anyhow.

I believe Obama is genuine in his intention to not raise taxes for people making less than $250k, but I think he'll probably have to do it anyway. I think the same of McCain, FWIW.

He will tax us into the stone age and put a tax on rocks.

Honestly, I agree with wendersfan though. I think his plans would demand or evolve into something requiring far, far more funds, thanks to government management.

My first response:

A semi more serious answer: I don't personally care, but think his math is significantly off and/or insufficient enough to make it almost certain the threshold will be far lower.

With the programs that he wants to implement and having a Democratic Congress, I don't think he'd be able to show the restraint.

"...through the roof."

Anyone who does believe him is a...well, let's just say that I don't see how anyone could believe it.

I really don't know whether the Congress will raise the income taxes on those making up to $250,000.

I voted "Unsure", but I think he would kiss re-election goodbye if income tax was raised on those earning less than $250,000.

I think either of these 2 are one-termers anyway.

Either one of these guys is going to have to have to. Not really sure who it would damage more to have to do it though.

Wow, based on this poll 75% do not support Obama. McCain will win in a landslide!

until you see the other poll.

And just because I don't support Obama, doesn't mean McCain will get my vote.

Cynthia McKinney will win in a landslide. Mark it down.

I don't think you can assume that all of those who do not support Obama do support McCain. There wasn't an "independent" option on here.

I think both candidates will raise taxes for ever. And that's the least of my concerns- I feel its necessary. Anyone who doesn't is blind to what's going on in this country. TAXES ARE GOING UP! LIVE WITH IT. Vote for another reason! There are far more important things to be concerned about- like 4 more years of a confederacy of dunces.

That's bull. Seems like these days more and more people are buying into the fallacy that the U.S. Government needs to take more money from us. Our gov't is wasteful and idiotic with billions upon billions of dollars and you think they need MORE?! It's ridiculous. The last thing our hurting economy needs right now is for more money to be taken away from people.

No tax increase to $250K?
Flying Pig 101 cleared for takeoff.

Edit: For starters, they will let the Bush tax cuts expire, then say they didn't pass any tax increases. For those who think they got nothing from the Bush tax cuts, check your math again. I am WAY WAY under $250K and I saved a couple thousand under the Bush tax cuts. I fully expect to lose it while they lie about not increasing any taxes.

I received quite a bit from the Bush tax cuts.

I still opposed them.

Of course, I have a greater societal concern than does OldDude.
