Probably more of the same that we've seen over the past 7 years WRT Al-Qaida. They do enough so it looks like they're trying, but nothing that would wipe out Al-Qaida from the mountain provinces because that would cause the War on Terror funding from the US to dry up.

Is Obama eligible to run for office there if his US bid doesn't pan out?

Yup. Things we're the least bit interesting "over there" before these things.

Invading Pakistan where everyone agrees Bin Laden is makes more sense than invading Iraq ever did. Not that invading a nuclear armed country is really a wise decision.

Hmmm. I'm thinking it will go in the opposite direction. While they may not flat-out support the Taliban/Al Queda, I suspect that we'll see co-operation dwindle then vanish.

Well, at least things are going swimmingly now that the Bush puppet is out of the way.

Wanted to reiterate how glad I am that Mr. Musharraf is no longer in power.

You're going to be really happy when the Taliban takes over the government.

We had another thread on this somewhere.

I was freaking Nostradamus on this shit with Musharraf being gone and what would happen. Well... there were several Nostradamus-type people posting actually.

That's the most dangerous situation on earth now in that country.

I really think inaction and international cowardice are going to let things develop to the point to where there will be 'in anger' nuclear detonations somewhere. If not from an attack by the Muslims, then by the US, or Europe, or Israel due to being backed into a corner with no other option.

Best I can tell no one is willing to do anything to prevent that.

Holbrooke is such a joke, and is so far off the mark with his 'let's just give them money and they'll do a 180' crap it's not even funny.

You're just being a fear-monger. It's only the MODERATE Taliban forces that have advanced to within 70 miles of the capital of a country with a nuclear arsenal----it's not the BAD Taliban.

The Bat couldn't pull it off. Sharif to return as PM. First time power will be handed over from one elected government directly to another.
