and trade (which was my pick -- we need to find a way to be actively engaged in a global economy, but without gutting our middle class).

I'm related to my aunt - that doesn't mean we're the same.

Just participate in the poll.

Educating people about healthcare for gay illegal immigrants who wish to trade taxes for an energy war in iraq, which affects the economy greatly.

That, and kids not speaking enough Spanish.

I'm not sure how this poll was created without abortion on the list.

I'm going to assume for many people the honest answer is whether there is a D or R next to a politicians name.

Is this pertaining to the election, or just the issues in general?

If pertaining to the election, you also omitted bowling scores and pastoral influence.

Okay, serious hat on now... I chose Iraq as the most important issue to me at this moment. That doesn't mean it's the issue that will most affect my vote one way or another. I'm not sure I can pin that down to any grouping of issues since you have to decide on a complete package and weight a number of issues relating to it, such as their ability to influence said issue.

I suppose he is the better candidate for energy, the issue I picked for the poll.

I also want him to look into breeder reactors and reprocessing the spent fuel.

The economy is a very close second, though much more complicated.

Iraq, which has been a major factor in screwing up the economy (huge deficits) and weakening the American dollar.

It's hard to pick one when each issue affects other ones. If we made good progress toward becoming more energy independent it would drastically lower our trade deficit and the lower gas prices would boost the economy. If we made progress in combatting illegal immigration, there would be fewer consumers to use valuable resources and wages for workers in low skilled occupations would rise, and we'd also free up tax payer dollars currently being used to pay for illegal aliens' abuse of emergency rooms and free health care. That issue also affects education.
If we could find a way out of Iraq, we'd free up billions of taxpayer dollars which could be spent on infrastructure, health care, and education, or maybe even a tax cut for the middle class.

I can't pick just one item.

Out of the ones listed, probably trade. Otherwise, executive power and civil liberties.

I picked the economy because if it sucks on a personal level (i.e. I lose my job), I am affected the most.
