Former House Representative indicted on terrorism charges

Mark Siljander linked to funding terrorism

A former Republican congressman from west Michigan was indicted today on federal charges of money laundering, conspiracy and obstruction of justice in a scheme to assist a U.S.-based Islamic charity organization funnel money to Al Qaeda and Taliban-linked terrorists in Pakistan.

Wow, it's not every day that a former Congressman gets indicted on trying to funnel money to terrorist groups. Is it off to Gitmo with this guy?

Is there not an even better solution on the books for treason during wartime?

Since the government brought charges against him, we know he's probably actually guilty.

If I have learned anything from watching 24, it is that someone will always sell out their country for money, even when they will probably get blown up in the process.

For the record. He has NOT been charged with supporting terrorism. So, forget Gitmo. Forget the bullet to the head, and bill the parents cliche.

If we want to group this guy with several other politicians, including our President, who have knowingly given funds to terrorist groups, then fine. But let's make that clear, and not pretend this guy did something unique and has committed an offense that has never happened before.

The difference here is that he is supporting a group we are currently at war with. That is treason and that is different. Let's not pretend it is even close to the same thing as aiding current allies that are known terrorist groups.

Come on, GZ. Every Goddamn thing in the news is related to AQ. Jesus Fucking Christ, already. And every goddamn terrorist group. Save for the IRA. But hell, who knows. Maybe they have ties to AQ, too.

Hek, everytime I piss green, I'm supporting Al Qaeda.

My point is, he hasn't been charged with supporting terrorism. Which means you won't get your Treason charge, or anything close to it. If anything, he'll pay a fine. If that.

That's what I meant.

Obviously, if the Federal Government thought he was that bad, he WOULD BE charged with supporting terrorism, and other Patriot Act quotations. But he hasn't. Which means the Fed isn't too confident on getting a conviction or maybe isn't comfortable with getting other convictions.

DP - You are correct. It doesn't take much to get indicted. If convicted is what I meant to say (and should have said). If convicted will you join us in wishing deal upon him? Good deal.

How often do you piss green?

Are you seriously having a conversation about whether or not a U.S. citizen should be taken to a prison outside of the civil justice system, denied legal counsel, tortured, and shot to death?

That's outrageous. Nobody has said anything about torture
