I voted for Alan Keyes in the 1996 GOP primary and for Senate in Maryland twice. Does he count or is this one of those Justice Thomas deals - he's not really black?

Not at all. I wouldn't vote for Obama because of his politics and lack of experience. I don't care what his race is.

No, it would make absolutely no difference to me.

But, then I'm white so I must be lying.

YES!!! We have a presidential race for a reason. It would be pretty silly to ignore the way the candidate chooses to run it.

We should assume that those who vote no in the poll are lying. Correct?

I voted yes. I would likely vote for someone with an "American sounding" name over that of someone with an "Arab sounding name". I know that's wrong and terrible of me but I've never been one to hold back telling how I feel.

You still would have been eligible to vote No, Zod. Last I checked, Arabs are the same race as whites.

Not to be racial, but this should have been a whites-only poll to make it more interesting.

I would never vote for a Klingon. A Romulan, maybe, but I would prefer Ferengi, since they are more likely to be laissez-faire capitalists and pro free trade.

No. I'll simply tally up the total number of votes. If the no votes don't amount to at least 20%, I'll know there's a powerful odor of mendacity emanating from this forum.

Meh. We all know that the Federation is nothing but a homo-sapiens only club.

There's a little bit (sometimes a lot) of racism in all of us.

Even if this is true, and I'm not conceding it is, it might not manifest itself in all areas. You might, for instance, be perfectly willing to vote for someone of another race, but be unhappy if your child married someone of another race.

I suspect you don't feel that way because you're Indian. And Indians hate other Indians more than they hate any other race.

So if two candidates were equally good in your opinion but you decided to vote for the one whose race has never held that office (whether or not it's your race or not), I assume that's race affecting your vote?
