Interesting deal.

I end up with

McCain = 36
Fred Thompson = 30
Duncan Hunter = 30
Rudy Guliani = 29
Huckabee = 27
Ron Paul = 25
Romney = 25
Tancredo = 24
Bill Richardson = 16
John Edwards = 11
Biden = 10
Kucinich = 8
Clinton = 4
Obama = 4
Dodd = 1

The choices weren't nuanced enough to allow me to make perfect choices, but here's what I ended up with.

Tom Tancredo Score: 37
John McCain Score: 36
Ron Paul Score: 30
Duncan Hunter Score: 28
Rudy Giuliani Score: 28
Fred Thompson Score: 28
Mike Huckabee Score: 21
Mitt Romney Score: 21
Joe Biden Score: 15
Bill Richardson Score: 8
Barack Obama Score: 7
John Edwards Score: 7
Hillary Clinton Score: 7
Chris Dodd Score: 2
Dennis Kucinich Score: 2
Mike Gravel Score: 2

Changing some choices that weren't very important to me affected the order somewhat, but national security and taxes kept the parties in the same order.

I took the original quiz a couple weeks ago (this is a scaled down version). It was flawed, but seemed to match closely with my feelings about the candidates. I got Biden, Obama, and Richardson as my top 3. Ron Paul was dead last.

Biden and Richardson sometimes ended up high on my list when I changed a couple answers on which I didn't care much one way or another.

Paul was first, followed by Dodd, Giuliani, and Kucinich.

The problem with comparing one's self against the GOP candidates (with the exception of Ron Paul) is that you need to know which "version" of themselves you're comparing against. "Now, is that Giuliani 1.0, when he was a prosecutor, or Mayor Giuliani 2.0, or candidate Giuliani 3.1, after his gay marriage conversion, or Giuliani 3.2...?"

It also doesn't take "crazy" into account. I couldn't vote for either Kucinich or McCain because they are crazy.

I think it's an important component, and I'm glad they incorporated it into the quiz.

What would be interesting is to see the quiz adjusted to ignore issues that the president is unlikely to do anything about, regardless of his or her stance on the issue (example: abortion).

It's amazing how times have changed.

I'm surprised the line item veto was there - is that really a big issue? I saw that I disagreed with Ron Paul on abortion - I checked favor but left of center which is probably where he disagrees so if I had to redo the quiz, I probably would select right of center on that. Hard to think of a solution for Iraq but I selected the timetable option.
Spoiler:
Dennis Kucinich 34
Chris Dodd 34
Barack Obama 31
John Edwards 31
Hillary Clinton 31
Bill Richardson 26
Rudy Giuliani 24
Mike Gravel 24
Joe Biden 24
Ron Paul 19
Mike Huckabee 13
John McCain 11
Mitt Romney 8
Tom Tancredo 3
Fred Thompson 3
Duncan Hunter 3

Chris Dodd

Dennis Kucinich

Hillary Clinton

Bill Richardson

Shocking - actually agreed with Ron Paul's position on 4 of the issues.

note: How do you answer the Iraq question with just one answer?

And has there ever been a president who didn't want a line item veto once he got into office?

Changed Iraq option to immediate withdrawal and right of center on abortion - apparently to agree with Paul on abortion, you need to select very important. New list looks more accurate.

Dennis Kucinich 41
Bill Richardson 33
Chris Dodd 31
Mike Gravel 31

Edit: Wait - Ron Paul is against legalized abortions?

Edit 2: Oh, I see - UNITED States vs states' rights. Tricky.

Ron Paul wants individual states to decide the abortion issue - he personally is pro life.

That was part of the problem of trying to answer some of the questions. Personally feeling one way but granting the government the power to regulate it can be very different.

Another problem is that there are a few questions that I'd be fine with multiple answers, but I can only pick one. I don't want the answers that I don't agree to count the same as the answers that I'd be fine with but didn't vote for; I'd rather give partial credit.

I still like these type of quizzes, but they don't really tell me that much.

McCain 28
Tancredo 28
Hunter 26
Paul 26
Thompson 26
Huckabee 21
Romney 19
Giuliani 18
Obama 8
Clinton 8
Biden 5
Edwards 5
Richardson 5
Kucinich 3
Dodd 3

What is funny is that I would never vote for McCain under any circumstances, even to keep Clinton out of office (I'd vote for a third party choice under those circumstances). However, I do really like Paul, Tancredo, and Hunter.

Yep. I knew when I answered that abortion question, it skew me away from Dr. No some even though we take the same state-view on abortion (although I suspect he probably would support a ban in his state while I wouldn't for mine).

Needless to say, I gave it the minimum importance level.

My #1 & 2 were Biden (39) & Obama, Clinton, & Edwards (38 each), but my lowest were McCain, Huckabee, & Thompson, and they each got 16. I'm surprised nobody scored lower than that.

I like this one site better, many more choices (and a better looking site, by far)

More questions, but fewer options for a lot of the questions.

Dennis Kucinich - Score: 36
Hillary Clinton - Score: 32
Barack Obama - Score: 32
Chris Dodd - Score: 31
Bill Richardson - Score: 30
John Edwards - Score: 30
Joe Biden - Score: 29
....
John McCain - Score: 5
Duncan Hunter - Score: 1
Fred Thompson - Score: 1

I guess I should be backing Dennis Kucinich? Well, maybe not. My man Joe Biden is way down on that list. That bites. Well, he was the only one who agreed with me on Iraq, so that's something I guess.
