Conservative blog declares war on GOP leadership

redstate.com, apparantly a relatively popular conservative blog (I think I read 25000+ hits a day), has decided to declare war on corruption within the GOP starting with the appointment of Ken Calvert to the Appropriations committee.

Here are a few of their posts on the subject http://www.redstate.com/sections/gopwar, they haven't tagged all of them in that group though.

Other blogs (http://www.peachpundit.com/) have joined the war as well.

It'll be interesting to see if blogs really are as powerful as people make them out to be. If drudge or some other big site gets a hold of this and give them advertising, it might just pick up steam. Either way, I think it is a good idea.

No blog love on this board?

Here are some other blogs getting on board: http://blogometer.nationaljournal.co...is_is_wha.html

Real media coverage of it: http://thehill.com/leading-the-news/...007-05-13.html

Even Calvert is paying attention: http://www.redstate.com/stories/the_...comment-448271

The extremist political blogs from either side make it hard for me to suppress my homicidal instincts. I read a bunch of social science blogs, but that's about it.

I don't read them, but I do find it interesting how much impact they have on the political process now (e.g. Mark Foley)

I never read blogs. In fact, truth be told... I don't think I've ever read an entire message of even one blog. They seem silly to me.

But they certainly have an impact on the political realm, as do message boards.

You know, I think this is great. I am usually amazed at how many right-wing bloggers can just toe the line and root rah-rah for the Administration in the face of overwhelming evidence that they've royally screwed the pooch. It's nice to see some of them actually face up to the facts and hold them to a higher standard.

Now... any chance that these same right-wing blogs will declare war on the war?

I think there are some great blogs - particularly for my POV - legal decision analysis and libertarian oriented. Kind of stuff that you can't easily find in the mainstream media - they can be as simple as linking to an out-of-town mainstream media articles.

My daily blog reading includes:
Hit & Run (Reason Magazine)
volokh.com - the best legal discussion blog bar none
scotusblog.com - terrific SCt reporting
theagitator.com - great blog documenting civil liberty infringements
howappealing.law.com - collects articles about important legal decisions across the country

Redstate is actually a pretty decent blog. I read it from time to time.
