From the article:

Fake cluster bombs made by children will be scattered around Lafayette Park, north of the White House.
And where were those made, the sicko ultra-Left Wing version of Jesus Camp? I guess indoctrinating children to extremism isn't just for religious conservatives only.

I have to say I agree w/ mike... it very much is a political statement/activity. Besides I have a reputation as a "bastard mod" to maintain

For Christmas, they probably plan to have a a Santa dressed in fatigues show up at the mall, hand kids a present, then take Santa pictures in Abu Ghraib poses. You know, because it's fun but also teaches them that America spreads more than cheer and goodwill.

Crap. I probably could have made money off that idea.

Personally, I would have preferred a cluster fuck, but then it would have been too much fun.

I don't see anything here that would qualify as violence. They make reference to violence that is occurring in the world, but it does not appear that any people are being physically harmed in this event.

So, people who won't let their kids play with toy guns will let their kids play with toy cluster bombs? WTF?

Maybe next year, they could look for suitcase nukes. Oh wait, they might not all be fake.

Neither is a very good idea.

Playing with toy guns leads to a greater chance of shooting your eye out.

Playing with toy cluster bombs leads to a greater chance of being crushed by a bulldozer.

Studies have shown this, at least in my head.

This isn't a protest against the war, but rather, a protest about one type of weapon the U.S. uses to wage war. There is a huge difference between the two.

What I don't get is why this group is targetting cluster-bombs. If the U.S. doesn't see a problem with using land mines (e.g. They refused to sign onto the Ottawa treaty.), why would they see a problem with cluster bombs?

I never said it was a protest against the war.

And you are correct that there is a huge difference. I think a lot of people who "support the war" might question the use of cluster bombs any more in any country. It's a different topic completely.

But I don't also don't think many people who "support the war" will be taking their kids cluster bomb hunting this Easter. Just a hunch.

I was simply making a joke that people who are likely to stage an event such as this (people who not only hold this belief, but actually stage an event like this) would be inclined to hold a similar event to protest American abuses of prisoners.

Plus there's the whole Easter Bunny and Jesus... Santa and Jesus... Religious vs. Secular holiday tied to a Political message ... oh nevermind.
