Joe Biden on Obama...

Man, I kinda liked some of the positions Biden was taking, but this quote:

"I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy," Biden said. "I mean, that's a storybook, man."

How can somebody at that level be so clueless about his choice of words? Best response had to be from Al Sharpton: "I told him I take a bath every day."

Wow, that's like something in an SNL sketch.

Is "a lot of baggage" codespeak for "lack of integrity"?

there's nothing like shooting yourself in the foot the same day you announce you're running. I wonder how much this will hurt him.

You don't think any of the mainstream African-Americans that came before Obama would have a problem with Biden's comment?

Not only does it infer that it is a surprise to see a nice looking, articulate African American, but apparently Obama is unique in that he is the first Biden has ever seen.

I think we all know what he meant, and the spirit in which it was intended, but I wouldn't worry about this hurting Biden since he is a Democrat. We know he has a good heart.

Just the inarticulate ugly ones who were aware of what they were.

Self delusion is not as bad as it sounds.

The thing I find the most amusing is that Biden immediately ran to Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton to more or less apologize for the remark. Like Jackson and Sharpton have never said much worse about white people I think Biden also apologized to Michael Jordan and the Jackson five.

Biden is just confused because he had never encountered many black people before, being from Delaware.

Wilmington, DE is over 50% black. The 2000 census lists the state of DE as over 20% black.

There's only 850,000 people in the whole state, but hey.
