Permit me disagree with the poll results so far.

Apparently the voters aren't reading the same posts that I am in this forum.

IMO, radical is the best term to describe where the majority are on this forum - either to the left, to the right, or libertarian.

BTW: Will those 7 moderates please step forward.

I voted moderate, c-man. But I agree with you. There are extreme positions here on both sides. I voted moderate as an "average" of the two.

From the short time I've observed this particular forum, most seem to be conservative, the opposite of what I am. The conservatives have scared me away for the most part.

Its obvious liberal posters stay away. The membership in this area is definitely skewed to the conservative side. All of the mods are conservative as well which is sad. It seems the blatantly anti-conservative threads get locked quickly where the anti-liberal ones seem to fester. Both should be locked.

Although many "voted" conservative, there are probably 7 of those who don't necessarily agree with the current political situation with Bush. So, the poll, while diverse, is still not diverse enough to get an idea of who posts here.

It's hard to say with any accuracy. There seem to be three groups of posters in this subforum:

1. The 'regular trollers'. Slightly more right wingers in this group than left wingers, these posters are extremists of either stripe. Most of their posts seem to be quite inflammatory. They also tend to start a lot of threads.

2. The 'regular posters'. Probably tilted to the right a bit, but also a lot of liberals, moderates, and libertarians. These posters are more thoughtful, polite, and courteous. The ideologues in this group are generally more moderate than in the first group.

3. The 'casual posters'. Probably more liberal than conservative, by a 2-1 margin at least. This group is less interested in politics in general, but may have a 'pet' issue - abortion, gay rights, gun rights, religion, etc. Mostly harmless, even when they are les well informed than the 'regular posters'.

That's what I'm thinking. I honestly don't think there is a (nearly) 2-to-1 ratio of conservatives to liberals on this board. There are several moderates and there are a few radicals as well. I suppose it all depends on our definitions of liberal and conservative I suppose.

One upon a time the conservatives were the dominant voice on this forum - no longer. It's equal. And, the venom from spewing out of the mouths of both is also equal.
