Michael Moore Planning Fahrenheit 9/11

Don't shoot the messenger:

http://www.comingsoon.net/news/topnews.php?id=7160

Source: Variety November 11, 2004

Michael Moore tells Variety he met with Harvey Weinstein and they plan to start working now on Fahrenheit 9/11. "We want to get cameras rolling now and have it ready in two-three years," Moore told columnist Army Archerd.

"We want to document and commercialize it," added Moore, "Fifty-one percent of the American people lacked information (in this election) and we want to educate and enlighten them. They weren't told the truth. We're communicators and it's up to us to start doing it now. The official mourning period is over today and there is a silver lining -- George W. Bush is prohibited by law from running again."

The issues (for the next film) have not changed because of the election. "They are Iraq and terrorism." Moore will also continue preparing his other film, Sicko, on the national health care industry.

Moore says he and Weinstein are going ahead on the Oscar campaign for Fahrenheit 9/11 in the Best Picture category and other categories.

I look forward to all the civilized, balanced discussion we'll have on this film. Beginning with this thread.

I am all for Bush-Bashing, but only if done in truth. What kills me about Michael Moore is on one side of his mouth he tells people that his movie is twisted and altered to reflect his view, and admits he leaves things out to spin the information in his favor, then he acts like this fabrication of the facts is the TRUTH. 51% of American's didn't know the truth? That's quite an insult. 51% of Americans knew better than to follow a movie that was a fictional fabrication of the facts.

I hope this doesn't interfere with Sicko, which I'm much more interested in seeing.

I'm all for Bush-bashing as well, and I also wish Moore would do it without lying and stretching the truth. That clown gives us enough ammo, so Moore doesn't need to make his work less credible to make his points.

1)To further explore Bush's actions in office, and his history that brought him to power.

2)To make more money, like any sequel.

You pick.

Although I do have to give him a thumbs up. I'm sure this and his next film will surely give the next Republican candidate a one-way ticket to the white house.

Let's admit it...Michael Moore's movies are damn entertaining. If he made a movie doing to George Lucas what he did to George Bush in "9/11", you'd all idolize the guy.

I put Moore's movies in the same category as most of Oliver Stone's biopics...they aren't intended to be "gospel," but they are intended to get you to think, and make your own conclusions.

Exactly. If instigating a knee-jerk reaction having people dig their heels in and defend Bush (or the next Republican candidate) is Moore's goal, he's certainly doing a great job.

p.s. I am neither a Moore supporter or hater.

Michael Moore to shoot Fahrenheit 9/11 Sequel

From cnn.com:

LOS ANGELES, California (AP) -- Michael Moore plans a follow-up to "Fahrenheit 9/11," his hit documentary that assails President Bush over the handling of the September 11 attacks and the war on terrorism, according to a Hollywood trade paper.

Moore told Daily Variety that he and Harvey Weinstein, the Miramax boss who produced the film, hope to have "Fahrenheit 9/11 1/2" ready in two to three years.

"Fifty-one percent of the American people lacked information (in this election) and we want to educate and enlighten them," Moore was quoted in Thursday's edition of Variety. "They weren't told the truth. We're communicators and it's up to us to start doing it now."

A spokesman for Fellowship Adventure Group, formed by Weinstein and brother Bob to help distribute "Fahrenheit 9/11," did not immediately return a call seeking comment.

"Fahrenheit 9/11," which won top honors at May's Cannes Film Festival, became the first documentary to top $100 million at the domestic box office. Moore, who won the documentary Academy Award for "Bowling for Columbine," is pushing "Fahrenheit 9/11" in the best-picture category for the upcoming Oscars.

The issues for the follow-up film will remain the same, Iraq and terrorism, Moore said.

"The official mourning period is over today and there is a silver lining: George W. Bush is prohibited by law from running again," Moore said.

Moohoohawhawhaw...moohooha...mooha...moohoohahahahahaaaaa....ok I'm done now. Discuss, flame, spout, spew, etc.

I'm not sure why this is funny. He made a movie that made a ton of scratch and he's going to try to capitalize off of that. Good for him.

Does anyone doubt that this is all just a transparent attempt to keep Bush from getting reelected in 2008?
