Donations map

I couldn't find this previously posted with a quick search.

Red are republican donations. Blue are democrat donations.

Here is the direct link with clickable cities. Also check on your neighbors to see who is donating to whom and how much here.

It's going to be interesting to see how this matches the EC/pop vote map.

Very interesting site. It is kind of eye opening to put names of friends and even celebrities in the search field to see how much they donated, and to whom they sent the money to.

I believe $2000 is the limit for direct contributions to the (each?) campaign, but I am not sure what the limit is for contributions to a certain party. The highest individual donations I have seen so far are $50k. So, either people are joking, or not aware of the limits, or I am completely wrong. (only one of those, though)

I have seen a couple of people donate to Gephardt AND Bush.

Cut the guy some slack -- he's retired. He's probably living on a pension.

Donald the businessman: voting for Bush
Donald the Hollywood star of Apprentice: voting for Kerry.

He's got to protect both sides of the coin.

I see it as an Apprentice-style contest for him:

"OK - you each get $2,000 to use to become president of the US. The one who doesn't? I don't think I have to say it "

I may have missed this somewhere, but is the map color-coded by dollars given or by number of people donating?

As stated color determines party. What isn't stated (and I can't see it anywhere on the main page but it makes sense) is that shading determines $ amount.

The reason I asked is that when I ran my zip code through the site it showed one more person giving to republicans than Dems, however, the amounts given were 3 times higher from republicans than Dems. I'd like to see this map side-by-side with one showing number of contributors.

What was the overall shadding of your zip code?
