Anyone here have a Bush/Kerry yard sign?

I want to get one (w/out stealing it) for free... anyone know how?

No... but then, I don't have a yard. Some around here have put signs on their house. My favorite: "Redefeat Bush 2004" next to the house with the "Remember 9/11: Vote Bush/Cheney" sign.

I have one. About a month ago, I went to my local Republican headquarters and simply picked it up for free. I guess check your phone book for whatever party you are looking for in your area.

It was cool when I got mine because they were also giving out tickets to see Bush at a rally later in the week.

I don't have one this year. Not sure why, I guess I just didn't feel like driving to the campaign headquarters to pick one up. I had one for the 2002 Senate race though.

Nope. I'm not so egotistical as to assume that my neighbors or anyone else who happens to drive by my house, really gives a rat's ass about who I'm voting for.

No. I thought of getting a "No on 36" sign, but my neighbors have a "Yes on 36" and I didn't want to seem like I was arguing.

Does anyone think these signs actually do anything. Are people actually on their way to the polls pondering their decision, seeing a sign, and saying, "Jeez, now that you mention it I should vote for that fellah."
I guess if you simply want to show support, but it seems pointless to me.

They're great for learning which neighbors you want to avoid.

I use them to take unofficial polls on the way to work. I also check bumper stickers.

BTW, on the commute from Burnsville to Minneapolis Kerry is winning.

If nothing else, signs are a fun way to see feuding neighbors. There's a Bush supporter down the road that has a huge sign in his yard, the house across the street has countered with multiple Kerry signs. Because more than one sign means you're really committed.

Well from the unofficial poll of signs around my house, Kerry is getting his ass kicked big time . Bumper stickers on my way to work are about even, but I haven't seen one Kerry sign yet.

I was thinking the same thing. I think signs make sense for local elections (city council, etc.), because those candidates need to establish some name recognition. Also, I think they're good for ballot issues for the same reason. But who doesn't know that Bush and Kerry are running for president?

And to answer the original question, no yard signs for me. No bumper stickers, either (I don't care how much I like a candidate, I don't want to crap up my car).

As I said, it's unofficial.

There is a line of pricey houses around Lake Nokomis with a Kerry sign in each yard and one big honkin Bush sign at the end of the block. Makes me laugh

I agree. I think I bashed the practice of putting up yard signs (and bumper stickers) in other threads. I did not think about their use in local elections and ballot issues.

I was at my parents house yesterday in New Lenox and you would think by the signs there Bush had Illinois locked up. I think about 20% of the 25% of the vote Alan Keyes will get lives there too.

We didn't have a yard sign until some ass from the Kerry campaign put a sign in each of the lawns in our neighbourhood this morning.

Luckily for me, tomorrow is trash day.

Yeah I did hear on the news last night that Bush is down to trailing by 7 points in the latest polls after trailing by 12 or more a week ago, but he wasn't expected to carry the state.

I don't expect him to, either. I also expect Keyes to lose by 40+ points. I know I'm not voting for him - I'm leaving senator blank, or I'm writing in Ditka

The only sign that will ever go up in my yard is a FOR SALE BY OWNER sign.

Just over a week to go...it's almost over.
