When the Man Comes Around (re: Pres. Bush)

A truly great Johnny Cash song is the background for this no-punches-pulled animation:

That's retarded. I bet Cash would be pissed as hell about that. You don't wanna make Johnny Cash mad, do you?

Stupid and offensive. Why does this crap deserve a thread?

Yeah. If it was switched with Kerry in the place of Bush and an anti-war theme you'd be all over it.

DVDTalk is really pretty liberal when it comes to what type of material is allowed, or 'deserves' to be represented. We have all kinds of threads here. I suppose an argument could be made for posting a strict list of desirable and undesirable posts, or better yet, make it so that threads have to be submitted for moderator approval before they're allowed to be seen by the general membership, but I think that would not only be taxing on an already overworked (unpaid) staff, but it would also somewhat lessen the experience here... to some degre... in at least some slight way... perhaps.

Just sayin.

Uh, I wouldn't use the term liberal here - too much attached meaning.

How about permissive?

Yeah, we try. If the thread is within rules and even remotely interesting, we leave it open.

If people can't read a word within context without thinking I'm calling someone a dirty name, they need to get a life. You obvioulsy knew exactly what I was saying, as I think anybody else with at least a pre-school education should be able to.

Excuse me for not being able to come up with a more politically correct term. I agree that 'permissive' would have fit well, but honestly, I didn't give it that much thought. That was the word that popped in my head, it fit just as well, so that's what made it.

-breathe-

Okay, now that I've got that off my chest - yes, you guys do try, and it is most appreciated. It's good that we have such a permissive atmosphere, one that while people may post some threads that I may not find worthwile, I have the same option of posting threads that other may find worthless.

One otter's crap thread is another's big pile of shiny new dvds.

Jeeze, that's so PC my head hurts. God for bid someone might feel uncomfortable because they aren't smart enough to get the true meaning out of the way he used the word.

Obviously you weren't discriminating enough in your word choice. Might I suggest in the future you try to be more niggardly with your use of words that can so easily be misconstrued.

All that montage is missing is a picture of Bush putting his foot in somebody's ass.

Cool montage, just too pixelated in some places. I guess that some members find it offensive to show a woman in a burka with an AK-47 pointed at her head when she's kneeling in the middle of a former soccer field.

I think what they find offensive is that we are trying to stop that from happening.

Thanks to us, it's probably a soccer field once again.

But I prefer the term 'football pitch'.

I confess I didn't get that far. I killed the window as soon as I saw the picture of the person falling to his death from the burning World Trade Center. Perhaps a bit after that, actually, since I also had time to wish immeasurable misfortune on the fucking asshole who made this.

It's true. People who don't like that video and its appropriation of a Johnny Cash song for a political agenda love watching innocent women being executed in public by thugs. We live for that shit!

I hate living in the same country as people who think like this. Even more, it saddens me to defend their freedom to communicate this kind of offensive bile en mass to simple folks who are naive enough to wallow in it.

thanks so much for posting it.

Nice use of the word islam, btw. I thought jesus w. christ told us that this wasn't a crusade...ahem...war on islam.

i should know better than to take him at his word..."the man" that is.

I have to admit it was in poor taste, especially the pics of the towers and the use of the red ISLAM text. I also don't like people portraying GWB as some sort of messiah/God's servant figure. This from a Bush advocate

For the same reason Fahrenheit 911 did, I would guess. I don't see much difference between the two in terms of them being propaganda. Do you?

Or even in terms of visual content, correct? (I've seen neither, so I could be wrong here)
