Malaysia's former PM: Bush causes the suffering of Muslim

Mahathir tells American Muslims to vote for Kerry

KUALA LUMPUR - Malaysia's former prime minister has urged Muslims in America to vote for US Senator John Kerry in the Nov 2 presidential election, saying President George W. Bush has been 'the cause of the tragedies' across the Muslim world.

'Vote Bush out of office,' Dr Mahathir Mohamad said in an open letter dated Oct 15 to America's Muslim community. 'It is truly an ibadah (act of devotional worship) that you perform.'

'In the past four years, during the Presidency of George W. Bush, the Muslims and their countries have suffered oppression and humiliation as never before in the history of Islam,' he said in the letter published on IslamiCity.com, a California-based website.

'There is an obvious connection between the sufferings of the Muslims and the policies and thinking of Bush,' the letter said.

It was the most strongly worded statement opposing Mr Bush so far by a prominent official in Malaysia, which currently chairs the 57-member Organisation of the Islamic Conference, the world's largest Muslim political grouping.

Dr Mahathir, who retired last October but remains a respected figure in the Islamic world, said Muslims have 'a duty to ensure Bush will not be able to determine our fate for four more years'.

'Bush has shown that despite his protests, he is the cause of the tragedies in Afghanistan, Palestine and Iraq,' he said.

'I would like to appeal to you, the Muslim citizens and voters of America, to be united and to cast your votes against Bush, in the name of justice, in the name of Islam.'

In March, Dr Mahathir had said he believed Mr Kerry might be a better president because he would keep the world safer and listen to other opinions.

However, Mr Kerry's aides insisted the Democratic candidate 'rejects any association' with the Malaysian ex-premier, whom they called 'an avowed anti-Semite whose views are totally deplorable'.

Dr Mahathir retired last year mired in a controversy after telling a summit of Muslim leaders that 'Jews rule the world by proxy. They get others to fight and die for them'.

The remarks drew condemnation from Western leaders. -- AP

Kerry is just wrapping up the terrorist endorsements today.

The Palestinian Authority also just endorsed Kerry.

I think a lot of people will vote for Bush only so they won't have to see the entire terrorist-strain in the Arab world erupt in celebration on November 3rd. I sure don't want to see pictures of those assholes dancing in the street again, ala post 9/11.

Let's not be too hasty. Have Kim Jon Il and Al Zaquari weighed in yet?

Actually, Kim Jong Il weighed in months ago - using his state media to advocate Kerry's election.

Thanks for reminding me about that one.

Terrorists around the world for Kerry!

Hmm...

Putin: Terror Attacks Aimed at Bush

Mon Oct 18,11:16 AM ET Europe - AP

DUSHANBE, Tajikistan - Russian President Vladimir Putin (news - web sites) said Monday that terrorists are aiming to derail U.S. President George W. Bush (news - web sites)'s chances at re-election through their attacks in Iraq (news - web sites).

"I consider the activities of terrorists in Iraq are not as much aimed at coalition forces but more personally against President Bush (news - web sites)," Putin said at a news conference after a regional summit in the Tajik capital, Dushanbe.

"International terrorism has as its goal to prevent the election of President Bush to a second term," he said. "If they achieve that goal, then that will give international terrorism a new impulse and extra power."

Still, Putin didn't say which candidate he favored in the Nov. 2 U.S. presidential election.

"We unconditionally respect any choice of the American people," he said. "I don't want to spoil relations with either candidate."

Putin also noted his continuing disagreement with Bush on Washington's invasion of Iraq, which Russia strongly opposed as a permanent member of the U.N. Security Council.

"Russia was always against the military operations in Iraq," he said.

Despite their differences, Bush and Putin have cooperated closely in the international war on terror, with Russia assenting to the deployment of U.S. forces in former Soviet Central Asia for operations in neighboring Afghanistan (news - web sites). In exchange, Washington has mostly looked the other way on Moscow's continuing war in breakaway Chechnya (news - web sites), which Russia alleges is being fueled by international terror groups.

On his last visit to Central Asia in June, Putin appeared to be backing Bush's assertion that Iraq was a threat, saying at a summit in Kazakhstan that Russia had notified Washington about intelligence that Saddam Hussein (news - web sites)'s regime was preparing attacks in the United States and its interests abroad.

No further details were given, and Putin also said then that the warning didn't change Moscow's opposition to the Iraq war

Is that really true? I guess Kerry was right when he said that a bunch of world leaders were for him

My views on Putin and Putin's Russia should be well known. However, for clarity's sake, you aren't actually equating Mr. Putin with a disgusting irrelevant anti-semite piece of crap, are you?

Of course not! Putin's a disgusting relevant anti-Semite piece of crap. I sincerely apologize to Mr. Putin and his family if my original remarks were misconstrued.

Yes, it's true.

Arafat wants Kerry to win.

It only makes sense - Bush won't deal with him because he's been deemed an impediment to peace, but he was a regular visitor to Clinton's Whitehouse. Arafat likely wants a return to his salad days of yore.

John Howard of Australia has just joined Russia(bleg, Putin) Japan and Israel as the most recent world leaders calling for a Bush win, FYI.

There's a pattern involve I see.

Russia = Chechnya
Japan = N. Korea
Israel = you know who

They all think Bush is the better man dealing with the three rogue states.

Regarding Kerry, how can you expect a man to fight the axis of evil when he refuses to let religion influence his decisions? You can't say, "Well yeah, Satan is bad, but we should really get Chirac to join us against Mr. Pitchfork before we drop a MOAB into the fiery pits of Hell. It just doesn't work like that if France has joined the dark side and evil continues to fester.

Maybe he just wants the Paris Hallway 100M Arafat/Albright Race to become an annual event.
