Do you expect an October Suprise?

I actually don't (but I suppose that is why it is a suprise), but anything is possible. If you expect one, what is the most likely scenario?

Nazgul 10-12-04 07:31 PM

Nope.

dork 10-12-04 07:43 PM

Watch Drudge's page carefully. I expect that in a couple of weeks it'll have a SHOCKING EXCLUSIVE about some outrageously objectionable act committed by Kerry. Eventually it will have turned out to be a false alarm and there will certainly not be any evidence that Karl Rove had anything to do with it.

Would the Red Sox beating the Yankees be a surprise? In some ways, yes it would, but since many experts are picking the Red Sox, it probably isn't.

Thus I vote no.

Spoiler:
For both the serious and the joke response

VinVega 10-12-04 07:47 PM

October Surprise. Sounds like a pie kvr baked for all of us. I'll take a slice, make that two!

No more than I expect a sweet November.

al_bundy 10-12-04 09:15 PM

i think before the election we will parade OBL in a cage through lower manhattan's canyon of heroes or whatever they call it.

human rights watch says he has been caught and that we are torturing him

CRM114 10-12-04 09:25 PM

Photos of Kerry and Jane Fonda doggy style? Kerry smoking a massive bong?

Photos of Bush and Katherine Harris doggy style? The "Real" story behind W's pretzel escapade?

al_bundy 10-12-04 09:30 PM

we might even see footage that was thought to be lost showing bush snorting coke lines one after another and chasing it with some hits from a bong

Groucho 10-12-04 10:07 PM

The only October "suprise" is that kvrdave is spelling like bfrank.

wmansir 10-12-04 10:36 PM

I wouldn't be surprised if it came from either camp. The Dems did it last time and are even more desperate this year, and the Bush camp would love to pay them back for 2000's DUI hit.

I'm going with the Bush camp though, because I think they are less likely to uncover something about Bush after 5 years of looking. I'm sure Kerry has a armoire full of secrets to be unearthed and the Bush camp may be sitting on one.

I agree with this. Since Bush is running for reelection, we've pretty much heard what there is to hear. Kerry is the newbie and I wouldn't doubt the "secrets" will leak out, oh, starting tomorrow. :)

Call me naive, but I don't.

Geofferson 10-13-04 02:28 PM

Nope.

bhk 10-13-04 02:36 PM

I think the Swift boat vets will have one out on Kerry again(all indications are that they will esp. now that they have quite a bit of money). Don't know for sure.

Chew 10-13-04 02:37 PM

Here's the quote I was looking for that gives me the opinion I already posted:

President Bush's top political adviser, Karl Rove, said Wednesday that the Bush-Cheney campaign is planning some October "surprises" for challengers John Kerry and John Edwards.

"We've got a couple of surprises that we intend to spring," Rove told ABC radio host Sean Hannity while explaining that he intends to wage an aggressive campaign no matter what the polls show.
The actual shock-value of the "surprises" may be debated, but I think we'll hear something shortly.

bhk 10-13-04 02:50 PM

Not sure that this comprises a surprise but...

SWIFTIES ANNOUNCE $14 MILLION AD BUY

Here it comes.

Th0r S1mpson 10-13-04 04:57 PM

The swifties are old news and the Vietnam issue is tired. It had better be good to not come across as just more of the same mudslinging. I thought both of these guys put Vietnam accusations behind them a month ago since they want to focus on other issues. Nice to see a 3rd party group dig it up again. Oh well... it's their right and we all knew they were planning something more from the beginning. I'm just not sure it's what the public wants to see at this point in the race. We shall see what happens.
