Frontline on Health Care

Frontline films on health care (both viewable online):

"Sick Around the World" on how health care is provided in some other industrialized nations:

"Sick Around America" on issues with health care insurance in the U.S.:

And, on the first program, here is a summary of how the other nations profiled do health care:

And, on the second program, here is advice for consumers on health care insurance:

Re: Frontline on Health Care

I believe I mentioned Sick Around America in another thread here recently. It is a much better, balanced effort than Moore's Sicko (which goes without saying).

I was much less impressed with Sick Around the World. It is a bit too glossy of an overview of foreign health systems, although certainly still worth watching.

This is also worth reading:

Particularly the part about "Medical Loss Ratio" (MLR)

.

I think Sick Around the World is quite good. My biggest complaint is that it should have been longer, given how many countries it covered, and it should have definitely covered France, which is ranked the best health care coverage in the world and should not have been left out.

Still, as is, it provides a nice cross-section of approaches to health care coverage, particularly on what works well and what doesn't.
